Your poem tells an excellent story. I'm inwardly cheering for the Dad. He's so right! Life is short and his son has no right to try to destroy his father's plans and dreams. Well done!

I love the story told in this very creative poem. I agree with the final message. Back when I was sixty, I didn't feel it was old. In fact, I retired and began a new career.
Your story is paced evenly and flows smoothly in unforced rhymes. The very last stanza provides a powerful message to live by. Best wishes in the contest.

Very powerful and moving story about a man finding true love late in life. and his son's attempt to prevent his Dad from perhaps making a big mistake but the old man followed his heart and everything worked out in the end.

I really enjoyed the story which flowed very well with smooth rhymes. Your dad actually did what most men in his situation would do. Loneliness as we get older is never a choice. Well done, dear for sharing your story in a poem.

I enjoyed this story and trying to control another person will never save them, it will only drive them away. I am glad that everything worked out in the end and I enjoyed this unique and heartwarming story, love Dolly x x x

This is a really good story with a lot of truth about what happens as we age. They think we've parked our brain if we try anything new. Your rhythm and rhyme is great.

Nice poem and a Road trip is just the tonic for an "oldie" in search of adventure and in this case love. Well written, love the image. Thanks for sharing and all the best in the contest.
Cheers

It reads like a true story/poem, the dad wins out, which is good. A man or woman should not be alone in their elder years. I enjoyed the poetic prose. Well done.

What a great story so well conveyed in your rhyming heptametric couplets! Your last stanza is my stand-out favourite, beautifully summing up the message of your verse. This is a very worthy contender for the contest and I wish you luck! Debbie
