That would be quite disturbing not only for the people but also the peacefulness and so many feet to play footsie with, what a great choice of critter for this haiku, very well written****kahpot

Not at all good having centipedes at a picnic. Of course, I'm not fond of any insects or things that resembles insects. Thank you for sharing this poem and presentation with us. I enjoyed both, but the centipedes.

There's been a picture in my mind as I picture a picnic table and being sitting at the picnic table and having a centipede crawling on the ground below playing not only with me, but with its own feet. Patricia.

Centipedes, lizards, any creature with scurrying little feet seriously scare me. Fascinating yet totally creepy. Lol. I know that doesn't make any sense but ... I enjoyed your poem. Reminds me that even when you think you're alone, there is always someone or something watching you. Gretchen

A very real possibility. Gave seen this happen under a spread blanket at the river in Dominican Republic. The largest one I have ever seen. Your post brings back momeries of my e ife and daughter screaming, and my son, scooping it into the bucket.

Gypsy,
This is a great poem. I don't think I want to play footsie with a centipede.
When I was stationed in Hawaii the centipedes were huge. They were as thick as your thumb in diameter and could only be killed using a broom and chopping them into pieces.
So, no thank you I won't be playing with them today.
Well done my friend.

Yikes! I don't think I'd want to play footsie with a centipede or anything not human really. A friendly animal - maybe, but centipedes are venomous. And some ants (like the fire ants) have a venous bite!

Oh my gosh, this is a cute one. A really sweet lighthearted Japanese haiku. I didn't know what the difference was from a non-Japanese one,so it was informative to read the notes.
