Ciao! You now have 9 votes

I found your story interesting.

I can understand when you were young and you blamed Kip for getting you into trouble but now that you are what 70/80 ?

you should have realised that the only one to blame was yourself.

We all make choices .. you chose to follow and take part in Kips pranks/shenanigans/ bravados.

no one forced you. Just be honest and say you liked to break the rules as much as he did.

I'm not surprised you are still best friends.

I wish you both still many years of friendship.

My problems with Kip ended after high school. We went to Catholic school from first to twelfth. Most of the trouble was his mouth. We both had problems with our mouths.

We are both seventy. Kip and his family only live four miles from us.

I have a book l recently finished. I am looking for people to read it.

It's about a kid growing up on Chicago's south side . His best friend in school was a kid whose father was in the mafia. One event changes the characters life. He ends up being an attorney for the mob.

If that's not your type I understand.

If you're interested let me know and I will get it to you.

    Thank you for the vote.

4 miles is only 6 and a half kilomtres, that's nothing.

I would have loved to have a lasting friendship like yours.

Your book sounds engaging and I wish you the best.

That said in my country la mafia is a constant element and it is a topic for films and series.

    I'm a sci fic nerd.

    Long live and prosper!

I'm not sure if this is true or not because it's headed fiction. But it's got a lovely, heart-warming feel to it and credibility that these friendships can truly be enduring. Well done and good luck! Debbie

This is true. My grandson was wanting to play as I was entering 😂
Kip and his family only live four miles from mine.😊

It is rare, and a blessing to have a lifelong best friend. Your short story brings a smile to my face as I read of a successful relationship. My mother had two such friendships...two ladies who knew my mother, but not each other. This is a great story. Best wishes in the contest.

Thank you! I enjoyed writing this because a lot of people can relate to it. This contest was perfect for me. Kip actually lives four miles from my family.

The best of friends can come to us in many unfathomable ways. My best friend of almost 40 years, well we got together as he fancied this girl, a fellow student, but she and I sort of hit it off and got together, he was a friend of hers so we met. The rest, as they say, is history. The girl is long gone but he is still my oldest and one of my dearest friends.
Thank you for sharing. You have my vote so good luck in the contest.
Tim

Tim, the older we get having close friends is important. I am sure you would agree. I am still close with kids I went to school with.

I enjoy writing stories like this one, because there are people like you that can enjoy.

I have another you should enjoy. It Adventures on Kingsley Street. It's about my brothers. You may enjoy it.

What a great story of friendship. What are best friends for if it isn't about getting each other in trouble on a occasion. You told the complete story in 60 words.

Well done and good luck in the contest

Thank you. I enjoyed writing this story. My memories of Kip in school are priceless. Sometimes I thought he would never graduate.

How lovely that you are still friends and we are drawn to warm hearts even if they bring trouble to our door. A long standing friendship is worth its weight in gold, I enjoyed your warm hearted story, love Dolly x

That's the kind of story that's fun to pass on to your kids (with the proviso to do as I say, not as I do, of course) and, as you've shown, the kind of friend who's fun to hold onto.

My best friend and I were the good kids who never cut school but, in our senior year, we decided to miss a gym class and go to lunch across the street. Of course, we chose the one day when none of our other classmates cut class, so we heard about it for the rest of the year, but we wore our one black mark proudly. Thanks for bringing back fun memories.

Good luck in the contest.

I'm always glad to write something that brings back good memories.

I just entered the Faith Flash contest. Sort of the opposite story.

I had a good laugh over the do as I say..

Before our son was born she told me not to tell him stories from my youth. We didn't do anything bad. Just stupid boy things.

reply by Michele Harber on 27-Nov-2024
And you had fun doing them. As long as no one got hurt, just file them away as pleasant memories.

My husband went to a party school (although he did throw in a few academic endeavors when no one was looking), so I'll side with your wife on his not sharing too many of his exploits with our college-age daughter.

I'm so glad my review was able to make you laugh. I like to keep things light and fun whenever I can.

Isn't that the best thing? In a world that has rejected most of the values I grew up with, people think that self is more important than others, love thy neighbour has gone out the window, beautifully written, good luck, blessings Roy

Funny, when I was younger I didn't realize how important my friends were. The older I have gotten the more I cherish their friendships.
I am glad you enjoyed the story.
