I just cannot imagine what another four years of that terrible man's leadership. At least, this time, he didn't put his family members in the cabinet. I think all the egomaniacs that he chose won't get along with each other. Let's keep praying for peace and protection for our citizens and the immigrants here legally.

We live in a world where change happens for bad or good. I do not support the unwarranted deportation of any group or individual. Your poems have all reflected your strong stance against this also. Neither did I support it under Obama's that saw just under 500,000 immigrants deported.I feel it is senseless to say,"my heart goes out to those unjustly being deported," as this is an over used phrase that has lost its worth. Yet, I do feel deeply about it, and actively, and legally looked to real solutions.
Thank you for sharing.

What he did was so inhumane it borders on the unbelievable, and yet I fear much worse will follow. Your poem cleverly focuses on a single person, someone with a heart and feelings, who is impacted. These children and teens nd their parents and families are not just numbers. Very well done.

I'm scared of what will happen in the next four years. Trump and his stooges are dangerous. I hope it won't be as bad as I imagine. I try to stay away from the news. I only watch comedians' trump news.

    Thank you very much,

    Gypsy 😊

Gypsy,
Your harrowing poem is an excellent social statement!
I feel for the many immigrants who came to this country who were threatened by gangs or some just looking for a better life.
I can't imagine losing my family like many of them do.
I don't knowwhat the solution is
To our immigrant situation, but I'm sure it's not a mass roundup.
Great statement.
Good luck, Gypsy.
Have a nice Thanksgiving.
Cindy

This is such a vividly poignant verse alone without reading the full background to your skilful sentiments. As ever your beautiful presentation makes this message even more special. Thank you for sharing and for taking up Billy's cause. Take care Debbie

Gypsy,

Simon and Garfunkel said it best in their Bridge Over Troubled Water song. The plight of migrants is terrifying under Trump.

Mark

When you're weary
Feeling small
When tears are in your eyes
I will dry them all
I'm on your side
When times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
When you're down and out
When you're on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you
I'll take your part
When darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Sail on Silver Girl
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way
See how they shine (See how they shine)
If you need a friend (If you need a friend)
I'm sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
I will ease your mind.

I was 15 when Bridge over Troubled Waters by Simon and Garfunkel album came out in Spain. The poem is not related to the album but the song did come to mind.

    Thank you very much, Mark

More than ever we must not be quiet. We must talk, share, yell our facts and opinions. We must especially talk about why men and the church decided they had the right to dictate any rules into a women's body. A very personal thing, a private thing was made public by men and the church. A shaming exercise. Like Betty White said, "if men got pregnant, abortions would be offered at Jiffy Lube. Karen

oh the mass deportations will happen. . . i am so scared for some people. . .

this was a great wake-up poem with excellent imagery

a couple things -

1- trouble waters - should be "troubleD waters"

2- Billy's future hangs
at bare bough's edge <-- i think this should be "off the bare bough's edge"

other than that, a great emotionally thought-provoking free verse
thank you for sharing!
shelley :)
