Each one teach one

Great poem with an important message! It's said "Each one teach one" originated as an African-American proverb.
In the days of slavery there was little opportunity to learn. When a slave was taught to read it became a responsibility to teach that skill to another...
It's been adopted throughout the world and as a motto for many learning institutions.
I smiled as I read this because my nephew is in kindergarten and his teacher ordered tee-shirts for each child in her class...with this motto.
They wear them on Mondays, and the entire class "brainstorms" what each of them knows that they can teach!
You suggest that this is a wonderful habit to adopt in or out of the classroom, and I enthusiastically agree...
I love your line:
"By working together
we can reach past the sun..."
Nurses use this philosophy frequently!
Teaching a new diabetic, for example, can be a scary experience. Gather a group of four or five new diabetics, pass out oranges, demonstrate how to properly give an injection... (Into the orange) then sit back and smile as each person engages with the next...
Suddenly the "students" are teachers!
This poem is a perfect example of teaching us a new way to I interact!
Love that!

Well done! We so often diminish ourselves, never considering that we are all teachers, and have a responsibility to help others. It's so much easier to jusr follow. Thank you.

Hi, Jesse. Your poem is well constructed with its consistent use of rhyme holding it together, and of course has a fine message summed up in the title and final line 'each one teach one.'
I do have a query about the presentation with so much separation between lines that the reader is likely to get lost.

So far, no one has gotten lost at least they haven't said they got lost.
I chose the placement of the lines for emphasis. Thank you for your suggestion anyway.
Enjoy the evening.

My mantra too. Learn one teach two. On here we are teaching all the time. I help out, any way I can whenever I can. We lead by example. You said this all very well. Karen

You are very good at helping others, my friend. Agreed, we lead by example. I am not surprised that this is your mantra too. Your kindness follows you wherever you go.
Take good care of yourself, my friend.

Love your philosophy, "each one teach one" and yes, today, I really don't understand why we/people keep putting things off, they only keep building and getting worse, so very well said and written****kahpot

When one sheep jumps, the others follow. We all have something we can teach another and in turn we can be taught. We are here to help one another. No man is an Island. I liked the lesson through your poetry. Nobody is a walking dictionary, our experiences are our book of knowledge. Stored away waiting to help our brother or sister. Blessings, K xx

Jesse, I hear you!! Great poem. Much wisdom can be gained through your words. It takes a lot of courage to lead, but the benefits and rewards are worth taking on the responsibility. Take care, Daniel

Thanks, Daniel, for your encouraging review.
Agreed, it takes a lot of courage to lead, but the benefits for everyone work wonders. The rewards outweigh the risks making it worth taking.
Enjoy the evening.

I get the feeling from your well composed poem that we need to pass on to the next generation the knowledge that we have gained in our lifetime. To hoard knowledge is a sin.

You are correct. We must pass on our knowledge to the next generation. Hoarding knowledge may not be a sin but it is wasteful.
Thanks for your provocative review. I appreciate your kind words of encouragement.
