Another fine poem, Gypsy....snd a powerful sta T ement of a truth not often thought of, the tragic result of man's presence. To be sure, there is ate cetainly forest fires caused by nature, but most are caused by man

Yes, unfortunately fires can separate so much and so many, and like many I tend to forget about the lost creatures and critters, beautifully written and presented****kahpot

aww so sad how devastating forest fires are...

this was a great poem about it - didn't expect it to be about deer lol

one thing: the scorching fire threats to outrun her frantic race <-- i think this should be "threatENS"

other than that, excellent work with cool imagery

thank you for sharing!

For those of us who grew up waaay back when... this one gives ya flashbacks to the original Bambi... Doesn't help that I've been through a residence fire and just the thought of what fire can do is truly chilling... well written, my lady! ;) Yvette

I can only imagine what this doe feels after being separated by such burning flames. If ever you had the sad encounter of seeing animals after a forest burn, it is very troubling, emotional and heartbreaking. Your words speak of this sadness, and present it in a poetic, but tragic way.

This reminds me of the scene in Bambi where there's a forest fire. I remember as a child being so scared when I watched it. Unfortunately, forest fires are raging on both coasts in the US and I understand in some parts of South America and Europe. Your presentation and poem are wonderful.

This is a great poem of love and devotion. The words are deep and poignant and paints the picture of how devastating fires can be, especially the wildlife. The picture is a great choice for the poem.

Great job.

This is very dramatic and the more so because, right up until the end, the reader is unaware of exactly who/what the subject is. The imagery of fire and heat is beautifully done. And I particularly like: before death's touch/puts out her life's spark. Then the visual of the buck waiting is even more poignant. Well done, Gypsy. Take care Debbie

This makes me think of the fires in Camarillo as some of our church friends have family there. It also makes me think of the movie, Bambi. We certainly have interfered with natural forest life and we have so many environmental problems since.

I was thinking about Bambi but the poem is not about him.
