Great reflections. I feel like just about every word is precisely what you need it to be. The imagery in the twilight description is lovely to read. There might have been some sentences that weren't quite complete (from a grammatical standpoint). I'm not a Grammar Nazi. When I am unsure, I consult my English major friends. Or, I find a useful app. That ending line is dynamic - The humble night calls again.

A lovely piece and we all need such good young men today. Such a thoughtful youth to look after his grandparents. May our young people have many wholesome ways to have fun and a bright future!
Comments:
He mowed his grandparent's lawn (grandparents') if more than one
I was curious as to why you capitalized Robin and Bass.

Your tale brought precious memories of summers past and youth flown. It was a delightful trip down memory lane. I loved the line "girls stroll down the road talking about boys they've kissed this summer. Sadly, none of them was him. gayla

Your writing is full of color, texture and sound here. You paint this wonderful, pastoral scene of a summer evening, and in the lengthening shadows, all the memories of the past summer seem to waver in those shadows as the boy on the porch recalls them. There's moments of joy, discovery, adventure and disappointment. It is very much a little slice of life. And there is poignancy to it, this sense that it is a moment on the verge of slipping away. estory

This was outstanding. I swear I could smell the grass, hear the mockingbird, and see the shadows of twilight taking over as the sun made it's exit. Then you went and wove a sweet little moment of a young man's life into it. Beautifully written. Gretchen

Mike, This is a very well written flash fiction about a young man remembering about a summer night and what he felt then. Great descriptive words. Thanks for sharing. Blessings, Teri

Gorgeous I really loved this. It's written beautifully so melodic, with beautiful scenes and emotions throughout, it's just such a lovely story I was so disappointed when I came to rate it and I had run out of 6 stars as this piece cruelly deserves it. Well done, thanks so much for sharing
Best Wishes

This is beautifully written. I like all the descriptive word s you use to make us feel we're right there with you experiencing it all. What memories we could all recall for summers past.

Oh, how much simpler and even 'down to earth' life was back then, right? Love the feeling of mowing and seeing the results of the job and then enjoying what else the world had to offer (without a phone or computer!!). Thanx so much for sharing! ;)
