What's HEB?

Your son, Steven's back and forth is funny. He is not helpful at all. LoL

I get it, sometimes I need help and I'm lucky that I live with my daughter, micaela, and her husband, nick. Nick is a genius. I'm not exaggerating. There's nothing he can't do. He is an excellent cook and baker too.

But I only ask if I definitely can't do it on my own. I don't like asking for help.

I'm not very good with technology but I do okay. Before I moved with micaela, I lived alone for 10 years. There were many things I had to learn on my own.

I'm the kind of person who learns better with visual directions than written. I use YouTube. You can find help with everything you can imagine and you can pause between steps.

I love your story, well done.

Gypsy

Thank you for the support. I struggle with the YouTube instructions. My guys keep telling to try them first, but....

Technology is driving me nuts! Simply because of how easy it seems to be for people to hack you! I was locked out of my laptop for three days while a technician cleanes all the viruses the hackers had put into it. I call on my son, or my granddaughter to help me when I don't understand things. So you can imagine how many times I call them!! Lol. As for your second story, I really laughed at that one. I'm sure Steve really didn't want to know about the zero carbs and sugar! That was funny. :)) Sandra

Hi Barbara,
You sound like me. I haven't a clue what buttons to push on the TV for HDM1, or whatever. It's aggravating not to know, but I just can't be bothered. Why is it that our kids know so much of this technical stuff?
I do enjoy Netflix. There are a lot of good movies there. We also like to watch "Everybody Loves Raymond" and "Frasier". I like the old game show re-runs, "Match Game", from back in the 70s. I have watched quite a few seasons of "Outlander" and "Doc Martin" and "Corner Gas". Great series! If we wake up in the middle of the night, we'll watch something light and funny for an hour, and then go back to sleep. Not that new Frasier series though... Frasier (2023). As much as I love the original series, the new Frasier sucks!
Enjoyed your story, sensed your frustration.... been there!
Hugs,
Kimbob

Barbara,

What a lovely story. I can totally understand your frustration with technology. My kids always get on my case about being technically challenge. Unlike them I didn't grow up it. I know the basics, but that's all and I really don't care to know anymore than I do.

This was a great story. Thank you for sharing a little part of your life.

Technology is great when it's working. When I was working at the post office and they switched to computers a lot of the postmasters retired, because the refused to learn it.

Also, when technology makes a mistake it's almost impossible to correct it.

I have a similar problem with my remote
If i want to change from my cable to my PC input, I always take ages to find the right button on the correct remote
Sigh
I feel your pain

I enjoyed reading this little glimpse of your family life. Thanks for sharing it. I must say, I really did laugh out loud (a rare occurrence!) as you recounted the story of your son and IT. My wife is exactly the same. If there is any technical glitch, she is straight onto the phone to our son in Melbourne (500 miles away). He is very patient.
As far as she's concerned, he's the guru. If I offer a suggestion, she looks at me askance and checks with him first!

I enjoyed reading your story. I thought he was in Canada, but I read the notes more closely. Kudos to him for being a math teacher. He must have had a good role model. You can tell him that my family of one son and husband, and I also watch Hallmark movies. It's much better that all of the other stuff on t.v.

I like how you shared all of the banter between the two of you. It's a nice relationship to have. Glad you got your t.v. fixed! Here's to Hallmark!!

I am right there with you on the high tech BS. My grandsons live close by, so when I get in trouble, they come running. I think the nerds have made things way too complicated.

I believe we rely on technology way too much. When it messes up and it does, it very difficult to get it corrected. Thank you for understanding.

Since my wife's death my adult daughter and my adult grand daughter supervise me like eagles and hawks, If I even look like I might stumble they are right on top of me, "Dad are you ok?" I reply , "Of course I'm ok." I appreciate that they care as much as they do. I think my wife's sudden and unexpected death my have scared them more that I at first suspected. At any rate, I am not sure how I feel about this new dynamic.

I've always fussed with my boys for thinking I always need help, but to be honest, I secretively enjoyed being the princess in the house. LOL

Lol. I enjoyed your humor, Barbara! I don't even watch TV. The way we have the TV hooked up to a tiny computer, I have to use a keyboard, a mouse, and a remote and it's all very complicated and I don't like watching TV and would avoid Hallmark like the plague. But it's your genre so you should keep watching to get great ideas!
