I think you just described my life in three lines. When I lost my job after 27 years, a headhunter who had also previously worked for the company, and knew my work, guaranteed she could find me a job in no time--but it would basically be doing exactly what I'd done. I weighed a practically sure thing I wouldn't enjoy, against trying the impossible--starting a brand new career in writing, and freelance proofing and editing, all of which give me pleasure. The dart landed on "writing, proofing and editing," and I've never once regretted that.
Thanks for a fun and enjoyable poem. Yes, planning is a very useful tool but, sometimes, you just have to take your chances and let the chips fall where they may.

Hello Michele. I'm trying to remember if I ever took the advice of throwing darts on the map. When it came to decisions, I suppose I did when we moved from California to Indiana.
My husband's health was very bad and we could not afford to stay in California so I had us go on a road trip and look at Chicago Milwaukee and Indianapolis to find a new place to live so he wouldn't have to work.
we chose Indianapolis and we stayed there for nine years until I retired and then we moved back here. Then some of the horrible commute areas were allowing people to work from home and they had double the number of lanes on the freeway and they had Bart coming out here also. we were able to get a house for far less money than the one we sold before we moved to Indiana
I'm glad it worked out for you and I'm sending you a message on the topic.
Thanks for the lovely review

You're welcome for the review.
I'm sorry your husband had such problematic health issues. At least he had a loving and supportive wife who put his needs first. I'm glad the final move worked out so well for you.

I agree, bravo for being so correct.
I once went on a holiday on the throw of a dart, the 3rd one at least. The first landed mid Atlantic and the second bounced and landed on the floor. I ended up in Ukraine. Fortunately this was before Putin started his shit.
The Crimea was beautiful and the people friendly and welcoming. To look at it since, makes me sad.

This was enjoyable for me. This is a great example of the form. It displays that the magic lies in its simplicity, much like a haiku. Keep up the good work.

When we had little money, a recurring theme, the kids and I would throw darts at a map and talk about the new place we would move to when our financial story changed and what house he would get. We made up notebooks of ideas.
My youngest writes and paints. My oldest draws and paints. I cannot draw a straight line. Things even out. :-)

Well, the youngest one is so like me. Handsome bugger. He is the outgoing part of me. He is 6'5" and 250. I am 5'3" But I told him he is selfish being gay, because he is robbing me of grandchildren. He said that if he married a woman and had kids they would divorce, he would get depressed and he and the kids would move in with me and I would have to raise them.
Did I really want that? He is way to smart for his own good.
I love him to pieces. Thanks for the memory. Karen

Hi, I like your poem. I'm on a path right now. I hope I'm taking the right one. I like the picture and your last line. Maybe, that is what I should do. Very nice.

Excellent senryu with a good syllables count and connection between lines. The presentation is very nice. Good word imagery.
It's fun to live in the moment.

Hello Pam.
You have come up with an interesting suggestion on how to find a new place to live, or go. I have seen many decisions made on lesser information. This is a good one.

I had some friends that would spin a globe and throw a dart to see where they would spend their next adventure. When life's road is full of potholes and wrong turns, maybe casting into the wind and finding a different direction is exactly the way to go.
