Ah, the sweet days of summer! What a lovely poem! Your meter was flawless and your monorhyme stanzas were a special treat. I've read this several times and with each reading, I select a different phrase that captures my imagination.
I especially loved:
" The clouds start to scurry slowly across.
The trees that shed leaves have suffered no loss."
This speaks to me of the immortality of the seasons...what we think we have lost will come again in time.
What an enjoyable post this is!

I had a lot of oleanders in my garden in Spain, but they are very poisonous and you mustn't burn them. The fumes can kill. They are still very beautiful. :))
Your poem, Pam, is an absolute delight to read. I wish I had a six for you. The structure, the rhyme and rhythm is perfect. And your excellent descriptive wording for the summer months was fabulous. You evoked so much gorgeous imagery, as you took us through to the point where the months passed and we soon came back to the starting point. I began to forget we here in England are fast heading into the winter. It was a joy to read, my friend. Well done. :)) Sandra xx

This poem, Days of Summer, presented with ten AABB-rhymed quatrains, reminds the readers of all the qualities we associate with summer and what makes us miss it and long for it.

Pam, I love the imagery the poem provides.
The soft summer gown now shimmers in light.
It's made out of moonbeams lighting the night. You conclude so well:
The first day of autumn brings a slight chill,
This summertime's thoughts are already still.
I am all for summer, wearing short sleeves.
Well written, Pam.

You described mother nature perfectly in your remarkable poem. Love the interesting fact about the bees surrounding their queen to keep her warm during the winter. Very loyal little bees. Your poem is amazing.

Thank you Samantha for your lovely review as I was writing this about blossoms in the summer that made me wonder what bees do in the winter. So I looked it up and decided to relay it my notes.

-Very nice image and presentation, Pam.
-Your notes are appreciated.
-You wrote an excellent poem.
-The meter creates a smooth flow,
and the imagery and rhyme are also very good.
-I also like the style you chose with rhyming
couplets within each verse.
-A very good opening verse with effective personification.
-You create a very good word picture of the elements of summer
with many varied elements of nature.
-I like the line about the "petals wearing a gown."
-I also like loons and used to watch a web cam.
They are beautiful and have that haunting cry.
-A very good closing verse. Thanks for sharing this.
