Free blessings and smiles. That's all it takes even if a passerby can't offer anything else there are many things they can give that are free.
Very nice poem in 25 syllables

yup... sometimes the people who have nothing are more generous than people who have everything... it's quite sad...

a great short poem

however, you have more than 25 syllables. . .
con de scend ing peo ple 6
glance at home less man 5
cov ered with grime 4
and negligence- 4
the poor man off ers them 6
free bless ings and smiles 5
(30 syllables total)

suggestion. . .
pretentious people
glance at grimy homeless man
with disdain---

the poor man offers
free smiles and blessings
(25)

just a few thoughts :)
thank you for sharing!

I think the man smiles at them in genuine gesture of blessing, but perhaps, he realization that he might have once been like them.
Very effective words. I think you have more than 25 syllables, I am naturally drawn to counting when you put it as part of the criteria.
Well written

A powerful piece, Gypsy! Both visual and verse complement each other skilfully. We don't need material possessions or external qualities to have inner beauty. And smiling is everything. Thank you for sharing. Debbie

Gypsy,
I like your social commentary poem. It's so relevant today. Some of the people who scoff at the homeless have themselves become homeless.
Nice photo and excellent empathy statement.
Best wishes,
Cindy

Some of the homeless suffer from drug addiction so they can't offer any blessings. But some are in that situation because of things outside of their control, are able to be kind and share what little they have with other poor people.

Many homeless people have mental health issues, some self medicate and others are just addicts. It's a hard life. I have given money and they always say, God bless you. But I could be wrong.

Thank you very much, big sister ❤️ 😘 🙏 💙

We have filled bags of goodies for homeless at church. There's one who comes to church. Hopefully he got shelter now. Our mayor even knows their stories. It's nice to live in a small town.

When I lived in Sacramento, by myself, I went to an Episcopal Church. I really liked it. I was involved in community events, like weekly dinners, and classes. We had homeless programs. I know what you mean. I do miss it.

I am trying to walk longer distances to build up stamina. I hope to walk there on Sundays.

Excellent, yes, this does seem to be the norm, the homeless do seem to have a much happier outlook than most who look down on them, no matter how they got there they do have their own stories, very well written with a wonderful message for those who do look down, ****kahpot
