"elder's kindred spirit" what a wonderful image your last line gives, as we imagine the elderly looking out from their home and reminiscing, very well written and presented****kahpot

Gypsy,
I like your thought processes for composing this Haiku.
IMHO 'rest home' (or 'old age' home) is an antiquated term. Keeping to short-long short syllabled lines for our Haiku consider:
'retirement home'

I can just imagine how long that old oak has witnessed that special bond between the elders who gather within, and share the feeling with it. I have always felt strongly about long living trees, and very sad when they are cut down for no good reason. Beautiful haiku.

Yes, some of those trees live such a long time, much longer than humans. I can imagine that the elderly feeling a kinship with trees which have seen the same decades they lived through.
