I am enjoying your poetry.
You have a way of capturing the natural way of animal life that feels real in every sense. This vision of a wild night life is great.

Thank you for your kind review. I have always love nature and wildlife and I think that's why I can connect with it. Did you read the poem, Night Watcher about the owl. You probably did. I just can't keep track of who did.

I love nature and enjoyed your take on the "night life" of the wild. It reminds me of the night life of the human wild...going howlingly into the night spots, looking for prey, tripping over things( usually themselves ). The more timid predators getting out of the wild ones' way. Then there are the fierce, quiet predators, laying in the cut just waiting to swoop down on the smaller prey. When the night is over, they leave and come back the next day and do it again.... Great poem. It was a fun read.
Take care, Daniel

    Thank you Daniel,

I can see how you can see the human side of night life. That was brilliant. I'm not in that scene anymore, but I do remember feeling like prey many a night (ha, ha)

Thank you for the kind review.

This poem paints a vivid picture of the nighttime wild, bringing to life the sounds and dynamics of nature. The imagery of coyotes howling and the tension of the hunt creates an engaging atmosphere. I particularly like the way you describe the interactions between the coyotes, the owl, and the dog, adding a sense of drama and urgency to the scene.

The rhythm flows well, making it easy to read, though you might consider tightening some lines for a more concise impact. Phrases like "the creatures of the night know the deal" are great as they capture a sense of instinctive understanding among the animals.

Overall, this piece effectively conveys the raw beauty and danger of the wild, and the shift from chaos to quiet at the end brings a nice closure to the narrative. Great work

Happy belated Birthday and thank you for your service.
We have Coyote's in Texas and their howls can be quite unnerving, lol. This is a great little piece you've shared and depicts them well.
God bless,
Steve

    Steve,

Thank you. I am a fellow Texan and out here in my neighborhood we have three or four packs. It's quite spine chilling when they all go off at the same time. Kratos my pit bull is scared to death of the. He is a big scaredy cat and not a big old pit bull.

Lol, he has reason to be scared, they'd get him if they could. Great name, Kratos.
It was my pleasure, my friend.

He's a 100 lb pit bull I think he could take a few of them out. Better he's scared though :)

I'm sure he could. It would be best if you had him around when you went outside. I love pit bulls. When I retire, I will have a couple myself.

He stays pretty close to us when were outside and the yotes are howling. Smart dog. Like they say if I ever won the lottery there would be signs. I would open up a sanctuary for pit bulls. There are so many in the shelters and it's sad. People are afraid of them.

True. They have a bad rep because of what bad owners created with their Pit's. It's a shame! They are loyal, loving dogs.

    Yes they are

Wow we don't have coyotes here in Irela d. The only coyote I would have been familiar with is the one who always flopped chasing after Road Runner! This is a wonderful descriptive poem of all the sounds and activities that I've learned about the coyote. Excellent, well done, I enjoyed this.
Best Wishes
Nicki

Coyotes are a nasty bunch, they will send out a loner and when the loner gets into a fight, the gang will come out and kill the intruder. We have them in Southern California. I enjoyed reading your poem.

I just read Debi's poem for you. Happy belated Birthday!
I am glad that your dog is smart and knows when it's not safe to play with the wild ones out there.

Thank you for the kind review. Yes Debi is the queen of birthday poems. She captured me to a T. Kratos is the pit bull, but he is scared to death of the coyotes. He is 100 lbs and give them a beating, but he's too smart.

I grew up in a big city and can't imagine the howl of a coyote. Your poem is very descriptive and a bit chilling, especially when you say coyotes howl, because of a kill. This is a fun poem, but the imagery is fantastic.

    Maria,
Thank you for your kind review. It is simply spine chilling when you hear them. Often there are 2 or 3 packs and they answer each other. Sound carries, but I swear to God there not very far away.

Oh yes, nature can be most unkind, I love this fun poem, it is really interesting to contemplate and ponder, and writing gives us that opportunity to do exactly that during our lifetime, it's most therapeutic, well done Cecilia, beautifully written, blessings Roy

Thank you for the kind review. The howling is spine chilling. There are at least 3 packs out here and they all howl in unison. That's when I take myself back inside.
