Two feds in the other car? I think I must have missed something? I don't remember those two characters--Howard Elgin and nathan page?
Miranda has some inner conflicts about her actions....

In Miranda's previous book, Aaron found two cars submerged in a pond. Thank you for this. Gretchen

Hooray for Aaron getting some research done! And I hope Miranda talking to her ex-mother-in-law was a good thing. Hopefully, she would know how to investigate discreetly. I like your soul-searching conversation between Miranda and Mirror-Miranda. That Mirror self is rather tough!

In life, we can only protect those who are willing to be protected, and lucky for Waylon, the one person he fully trusts is someone who truly cares about him. Thanks for sharing.

This was such a good chapter, Gretchen. Although I didn't fully follow the two agents part because I hadn't read your previous novel, I got the gist of it, and I thought it was interesting the way you made a parallel between Miranda and Nathan Page at the end.
That was a terrific conversation you had with your "toughest critic." What a unique way to show Miranda's thoughts. She has a difficult choice to make, as there were compelling arguments on both sides. It will be interesting to see what she decides to do.

Ohhh, this is classic Miranda!! A tough critic, but a fair and honest one, too. And smart as hell. This is why all your readers absolutely love this woman. She's the equivalent of each of us, but she does it way better!
Fantastic chapter, Gretchen!!

Thank you for this. I've noticed how i don't pussy foot around things as much since I've been writing her character. She's been good for me. Gretchen

She gave you time to percolate, but she was always in there. (I bet SHE'S not a Delayed Gratification person...) ...you know, not that I'm bitter still, four days later...

Miranda starts to question herself here, her actions and thoughts as her prime consideration is not to lose Waylon altogether. Another fine chapter Gretchen in this emotional an tug of war story to win custody of Waylon, love Dolly x x x

Thank you, Dolly. Miranda will need to make a lot of concessions before it's all over. Gretchen

This entire read from chapter to chapter is captivating from the characters, dialogue, and the plot of your storyline. You're well-crafted when it comes to words. Great story.

Sadly, she did get that info about Waylon's teacher from Dougie. And yet, if it was accurate, she might have saved a number of boys from a miserable fate.

Excellent. I like the link-up with Miranda's previous book. I also like the way you present Miranda's thoughts as a dialogue. That's what we do in real life as we weigh up the pros and cons of any situation. Well done!
