I haven't a clue why this didn't win...it's taut with a sadistic thrum that keeps vibrating at horror decibels I didn't even know I could tune in to!

You've murdered husbands and such...you have that knack for treading the humerous with dismembering some poor man's humerus...

This?

This was many notches away from witty...

You're hazardous to our health!

It's a winner in my book!

(Remind me to never get you angry)

Honestly, I don't know where all the dark stuff comes from. The bad men with humor, sure, but this super dark stuff? I takes a lot out of me to write it. I know it is good. but I can't write it all the time. Thanks for the read. Karen

This must be how King or Koontz feel!

Have you read King's "Revival? "
    Good book. :-)

Maximum creep factor on this little piece of (fictional?) horror.

Sounds like somebody needs a little timeout in the naughty corner.

This is six star work, my friend.

Believe it or not, this was fun to see how dark I could get. I could not believe that all came out of me. I will go back and review medium again later. Thanks for the read and swell comments. Karen

It's not often that I can say I wouldn't have changed a single word, but my dear, this is a masterpiece, still ringing in my ears. I like everything you write, as you know. But this is special. And sadly, the genre doesn't get the credit on this site that it deserves. It once did, when Dean was here, but not since. Maybe you can bring it back and take it to even a higher level than back then. Outstanding! Thanks for sharing.

I think you missed Halloween Hijinks too. That was fun to write. Do you know I only discovered two months ago that you could look up people's stories by title on their page, a month ago? When you pull up their page , go to profile, and hit the all button on the right side.
Very helpful. I had been trolling, very time consuming.
Thanks for the read and six stars. I looked up Mo Hayer. I put her on the list of books to look out for.
    Thanks for the tip. Karen

I think you'll like Mo Hayder. She's not your typical writer and doesn't look at things like everyone else.

She didn't write much. About a dozen books I think. She went on my list. She got stuff done before dying young. Thanks for the tip. Karen

I read this before. I had to read it again. This is so sadistic and real. I love the whole idea. You ARE demented, but still loveable. You have the guts to write things like this and I can barely write a swear word and feel comfortable. Impressive.

I don't swear. There are so many ways to say things without reducing myself to vulgarity. And, I have not been able to write a western yet, And, It's not for lack of trying. There are lots of things I have not even attempted sweetie pie. there are over 300 types of poetry, for instance. If you wish, you can send me a story no more than 2000 words and I can tell you what works and why something doesn't. But don't tell anyone else. I don't want to be swamped.:-)

I have read and addressed your short story. You have good bones, and you can write, but just like when I got here, you will learn what works. what doesn't and why. You will improve and you will feel good and accomplished. It's a nice feeling. Karen

Tim Magritts is another good writer. I don't even usually read fantasy, but I am sucking his stuff up with a straw. Wait, that doesn't sound right. Anyhoo, he hasquite a few chapters. You can read without reviewing until you are caught up. For true life stories T.B.Botts is the best. For poetry Karenia is great. For Mystery Begin Again is good. For drama GWHargis is good, and for biography Debbie D'arcy cannot be beat. A lot of people do only one thing, some 1 0r 2. I try my hand at everything. I am either eclectic or nuts. Or both! :-)

I have read Debbie D'Arcy and just love how she brings the subject to life. She reviews me and it stings. Are you too related. lol When will I get through this phase of writing stupid little poems and get back to prose?

Honeybunch, I write just about all categories and all styles, I go in cycles. For a while I was haiku crazy. You can write however you want. You need to write for yourself first. If you want to write about fluffy bunnies frolicking in the meadow, go ahead. Or, if you want to write about George MacAliter getting a good bead on a fat bunnies head, go on and do it. Write whatever story you have in you. The more you write yourself, he better you will get. Read some of the folks I mentioned. You will find your own favorites. Happy new year. Karen

Thank you for your permission to be myself. That sounds like a joke, but reading into it probably shows a lot of repression. Can you guess how many people laughed when I told them about my dream? Every one. It's a tough industry. Write for me it is.

OMG!!! Where did that come from? I would have a heart attack before you started your fun work on me!! The worst thing about this is there are people out there who do things like that! I think you have appeased your critics, Karen! LOL. Your detail is soooooooooooo vivid! Well done and good luck in the contest. :)) Happy New Year! :)) Sandra xxx

Thanks for the read. The contest is long over. I did not win, place, or show. There were others further out there than me. I slept with the light on after reading them! Maybe this will hush up folks for a while. These days I am more nostalgic and funny. I have phases. I am still working on doing a western. I am determined to clear that hurdle. I am not real prolific lately. I nest in Winter. Love to you and yours. Karen

You have just woken up from a slumber where you were dreaming of softer things Now with a vengeance you are leading us to your slaughter table ..Blood and gore galore...I recently read about 'noir' a genre that is all about grim and shocking things...

I love "Film Noir" think the "Asphalt Jungle" 1950, " The Boston Strangler" 1968, & "No Way To Treat A Lady" 1968. For books, try the authors, Dasheill Hammet, Ross MacDonald, Raymond Chandler, and Rex Stout. For current TV watching try Dexter( the first series) and Blacklist. Hope this helps. Karen

Yes, you probably had lapsed into more ethereal things, Karen:) But back with a vengeance with your all-time favourite theme of blood and gore. A nice touch with your red text, reminding us all the way through of your dedicated mission in the chamber of horrors. Well done, Karen. A strong contender, I'm sure. Good luck! Debbie

I still have it. I went all out for the sheer horror of it. But, the contest is over and I did not win place or show. I wasn't scary enough. The top winners were way way out there. After reading them I slept with the lights on. :-)

WOW! This is the first thing I've read, written by you, with such horrific scenes. Whoever said you weren't being bloody enough needs to choke on these horrible snippets. Each one is worst than the preceding one. I think they're bad enough to win the contest. Best wishes.

Sorry to burst your balloon honey bunch, but the contest is long over, and I did not make the top three. Mine was not creepy enough. Several were far worse. I have written some bloody stuff before I moved up here. I was killing my current husband over and over.
It helped my pain a great deal. But, moving here made my mood a lot better, and my writing got nicer. I am working on writing a western. I haven't gotten over that hurdle yet. Thanks for the read. When I read the winners, I slept with the light on that night! :-)

Oh, Karen, I think this should pretty much cover the claim that you haven't been bloody enough. Deare me. You're very good at this. My hair virtually stood on end. All best of luck. Ulla xcx

Thanks for the read. It takes a lot out of me to write this way. When I carried anger closer to the surface kit was easier. And when I am in a lot of pain it is easier to write mean. But, winter is when I write most of my truly nasty stuff, because that is when I have the most pain. Autumn I write mostly nostalgic stuff because that is my happiest season. Spring is funny quirky stuff with ironic twists, because it is new life and hopeful beginnings. Summer is people getting there just rewards, but usually without death occuring. The heat makes me snarky but not truly violent. But, I can and do break the mold from time to time just because. But, I try to let the picture reflect what you can expect. The contest is over, There were some stories out there more creepy than mine. I slept with the light on. :-) Karen

Whoever told you that you haven't been bloody enough lately deserves a yellow flag for taunting. But with this one, they can now shut their pie holes for at least a year or two.
Good luck in the contest.

Yep, it was easier to do when I had more anger close to the surface. I am happier now. So, being dark requires more digging. I am mostly humor based now. I can really only write dark when I am in a lot of top tier pain. I have all my distractions built back up, so much so, I forget to take my aspirin and Tylenol. In the winter it can be rough to forget with arthritis rearing it's ugly head. I am getting A new electric blanket from my mother in law, which is good because my current one is acting up. Now that I have sufficiently brightened your day, LOL, Love to you and yours. Karen
