Very nicely done. I would say that this had a creepy dystopic feel to it.

Loved this line:
We were infinity, now the singularity

Nice writing!!!

Thank you, Douglas. I'm really happy you liked it. Sometimes it's a little too abstract for some but not in the case here.

Wow! This should be featured on some sort of wildlife site! Just a brilliant display of lexicon. Each stanza made me want to read more and more, then boom a killer ending! Great job, a poem well crafted.

Lea, you pen for the helpless those that have no say. You are correct for humanity care little about the planet and we are destroying it. We need to be aware and care as well as voice our objection to what is happening around us. Not many can see, but many just don't care. This is a good entry for the Free Forn Poetry Contest. Thank you for sharing.

Such a sad poem filled with so much truth that too many try to deny. The saddest part of all is that when it eventually happens we will have only ourselves to blame. Your last line is perfect.

Thank you so much. For your awesome review, I could see that it's got the message across. I thank you for reading and stopping in and offering your great comments. And you're absolutely right, right. We have only ourselves to blame. While the oceans get depleted, the forests are cut down. Go hand and c is polluted. We gotta be the dumbest smart people in the universe! Thank you marilyn for your thoughtsfield review and for your fine rating for your time list of all. I hope you have an awesome day!

Your poem is a powerful and thought-provoking piece that skillfully combines vivid imagery, emotional depth, and a poignant message. It captures the essence of environmental degradation and the urgent need for awareness and action. The free verse form allows for a raw and unrestricted expression of the themes, making it a compelling and moving read. Well done!
Beautiful Picture!

Many powerful words and ideas are here, but I found some parts of the poem to be a bit obscure. Somehow I think the ending lines would have worked better as the opening. Kind regards, TLayne.

Love the way you have set this up with the single tree standing alone, only to gaze down upon the waters that replenish its roots to grow.
May its leaves find the shore once more. Shadrach

The last tree. Can you imagine it? When we see the trees being cut down to make way for farms, houses, playing fields, we are killing not only the trees but our planet. You poem paints a grim picture, Lea. I can only hope the governments stop all this wanton distruction. We've done too much damage already, and the planet is fighting back with the floods, fires, earthquakes... etc. And it is all our fault! Well done for writing this, and good luck in the contest. Sandra, thank you very much. Yes, climate change the rampant usage of Earth resources. It's all going to run out because we are the immediate gratification society to heck with the consequences. Unfortunately, that's the mindset of a lot of people. Or they'll have excuses. God, maybe do it, so it must be God. I say crap to that! I've probably done a couple of reels on climate change that have I don't know that place i'm thinking about rereleasing them. I'm really glad you liked this Palm and that you completely understood you have incredible insight and also empathy. Great thing for a talented writer. Thank you so much.I appreciate you!

I take it this is about a lot more than one tree losing it's leaves. Where I live, trees are clear cut off of lots, then trees that aren't native to our area are planted in their place. Sad to know that we believe we know more than Mother Nature. Beautiful and powerful. Gretchen

You're absolutely right about that Gretchen. If we don't move with the rhythm of the world, we have become an invasive species. Anything that's invasion and everything else too! Yes, it's about the last tree.
And how the rest of the floor into the ocean and no more trees. Thank you so much for your review. You're very insightful! I appreciate that so much! Have an awesome day!
