Ha! Momma bear had kids to feed. I am glad Durban saw to straightening out the issue.
The military life isn't for the front of heart. Only the strong survive.
Great read!

This so typical of the Army and why the run around i could never understand. You were a fighter and because of this you got help. Sounds like the same old VA who I am a patient. Sending blessing your way, Barb.

i always think that military wives have it really hard .I can imagine your frustration dealing with all that 'definitions'. At they can try to understand ..but they are so rigid in their approach...Great memory ..

The world and life, are full of frustrations. The details in your story put us in the thick of your emotions, and we can relate as you have to move on your feet between all these obstacles. Often it appears you get by on the skin of your teeth, but I guess that's what keeps us relying on our faith. It also demonstrates how hard it is to keep things going in these military families where spouses are separated for long periods of time, many times on short notice. Thank you for your service. estory

My heart goes out to you; I watched my sister trying to deal with military paperwork, or lack of it, while my brother was stationed overseas; she ended up having to move home with our parents until her husband came home. So god bless you and your family, and thank your husband for his service

Hello Barbara,
I wish I had a six for this. I was furious when I was reading this. Why in heavens name do our military men and women get treated like second class citizens? When I was in the navy, we were getting ready to deploy overseas for several months. We were already living in the poverty level. We were going to be leaving before we received our pay and it was going to be a hardship for many of us. Word got out that the captain was going to be paid, but not us. I signed a petition and we received our pay, but not before the captain read us all the riot act and declared we could have been charged with mutiny. Unless you've been in the military, most people don't have a clue what the families have to endure. I'm glad you had the intestinal fortitude to stand up for yourself. I'm sorry that this happened to you, and I'm sure countless others. Well done gal.
Have a blessed evening.

If it happened to me, it happened to other and many of the other wives were young and didn't understand a lot. Thank you for the understanding.

Really good article, Barb. It was really unsettling to see what you had to go through. I thought the military would be better at handling situations such as that.

Kudos to you, Barbara! You're strong and amazing! I was first impressed that you handled the move yourself. But then when that awful woman wouldn't honor your Power of Attorney status, you knew you had to go up the chain of command! And did you ever find out who stole Brian's LES ?

It was a mistake. Nobody took his money, they just messed up. Thank you for the understanding.

That woman made up the whole story about your husband coming to withdraw the money?? Sounds more than an error to me.
-
It was an error. I doubt it was on purpose. There was a mistake made, but she refused to look into it.

Okay the whole financial power of attorney thing is just frightening. Did they ever find out who (if there was a paper trail) came and got the cash? Being a military spouse is hard work. This was entertaining, engaging and eye opening. Gretchen

Nobody got the cash. They messed up and wouldn't admit it. Thank you for the understanding.

That had to be a very exasperating time for you. My dad was in the Navy, and it was my mother, my baby sister and me. She had to always take care of things for us. Thank you for sharing! love and blessings, Teri
