Those were magical moments when I was a child--listening to the sea in the shell. As an adult, I still find myself picking one up and listening. Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece, Gypsy.
God bless,
Steve

Isn't that the best experience of the sound of the sea and the memories of childhood, all beautifully contained in a single shell! Thank you for sharing this delightful verse in its attractive presentation. Take care Debbie

Thank you for sharing the end of summer vacation with us. It causes me to think about all those summer romances ending, with hopes they remain, but often they don't. How sad. But there are always the memories. I enjoyed the entire presentation.

Hi gypsy, I loved what you said about the conch shell. When I was a child, and even now, I loved holding the shell to my ear and hearing the sound of the waves reverberating in my ear. Dove

Gypsy,
You present a good ending to the summertime. As kids, it was always fun to seemingly listen to the ocean by putting a conch to your ear. Don't know the science of it, but it did work!
Nice illustrations!

Many a time, I have held a conch shell to my ear and hear the sound of the windy sound of the sea. Of course, as I grew older I know that it was not actually that, but even now I still lose myself in the feeling from time to time.
Beautiful haiku.

the sound of sea remains -- as i was reading, i kept trying to put a 'the' before the sea. . . or it could be just me lol- just thought i'd mention it...
also, concha - that's spanish, right? should be conch if you want it in english... though it does sound kinda cool "concha"
anyway, just some thoughts i had...
a great haiku with nice imagery and cool pics
thank you for sharing!

Thank you very much, did write the Spanish word lol I chanced it.
With haiku we aim to right as brief as possible and I don't want 2 "the" so closed together. I don't think I need the second the.

I was convinced when I was young that you could, in fact, hear the ocean when you put your ear to a sea shell. You have described a wonderful childhood memory. Great job. Gretchen

That's the fun part. I love that we can imagine the sea in the seashell. Of course, it works just by cupping our hands over our ears but it's more fun using a seashell. Great use of alliteration in your poem!
