We got a background her dad's behavior. We learn even more. I like the expressions of and Flinch:" I wince, now feeling stupid for bringing it up. "Just uncomfortable. Maybe standing too close to you, putting his hands on you."
I flinch at the face Waylon makes. "Ew, gross, Miranda. No! He has his golden boy in class. Terrence Evanoff. The sun rises and sets on him."
A great summary

Thank you. While Waylon might think Terrence is lucky to be in Tomlins good graces, we know better. Gretchen

Good chapter giving us a little more insight into Dougie and Tomlin and their history together. Dougie never really answers Miranda's question as to why he has come back now. I'm sure he has some ulterior motive than just to see his son again.
And now we find out why Tomlin has it out for Waylon and that he has a history of being a bully. You've got a great contrast between your good and bad characters going here, Gretchen, which really adds to the appeal of the story.

So Miranda has got something now to fight the Tomlin monster. I am sure she wont keep quite .And Dougie is not a happy news if he is lying low .Altogether Miranda has a lot on her shoulders..

Miranda can't seem to ever be free of drama. Poor thing. But she will carry on. Thank you for this nice review. Gretchen

That, Mr Tomlin is a creep. I'm glad he is not molesting Waylon. Poor, Terrence.
Another engaging chapter. I wonder if Dougie is good or bad. Is he really concern about Waylon? Or does he have a selfish reason to come back?
Well done

Not sure about Dougie's reasons for coming back. There is definitely more than meets the eye with him. Thank you so much. Gretchen

This is my first chapter at reading this story. This is certainly filled with a lot of conflict. The tension seems to rise with every conversation which is better in writing than it is in real life. It will be interesting to see how the conflict and the tension is resolved.
Robert.

It is certainly good to have someone in power at the high school. Even if she doesn't like it, her ex-mother-in-law won't be crazy about a predator among her staff. Hopefully Dougie has a good reason to leave town again, soon, and not take Waylon.

Thank you, Carol. I'm glad you liked this chapter. I'm with you hoping Dougie hits the road and leaves Waylon with Miranda. Gretchen

Hello Gretchen,
Dougie sounds like he never grew up at all, now it appears he wants to have his son follow in his disastrous foot steps. Butt pirate? I've never heard that phrase. Isn't tenure for teachers great? You can't get rid of them unless they plant bombs in the school, and then it's hard. Great chapter gal.
Have a blessed evening.

Dougie is definitely in a time warp. He still thinks he's the coolest guy around. Stuck in his high school glory days. thank you for the nice review. Gretchen

This is going to get really interesting. I can't wait to read more. I still don't trust Dougie. I feel he's going to hurt Waylon again. I can't believe he won't. Thank you for sharing.

Dougie is a scoundrel. He probably will end up hurting Waylon. I'm so glad you are enjoying this story. Gretchen

There aren't many who write characters that I can relate to, but I seem to know all of yours. Of course, that might not seem like a complete coming from such a warped cartoon like me. :-) Thanks for sharing.

Ooh, this was fantastic!! So much was -um, sorry for this - exposed!! And everyone stayed stayed perfectly in character: sleazy Dougie (even the fact that he goes by Dougie is so sleazy-perfect, Gretchen...), the maddening teacher, Waylon for loving his dad despite his obvious flaws, and even the reptil8an ex-MILwill havevsome usefulness other than to be a thorn in the side!! Really fantastic chapter!!
