I could definitely feel the evil of the fog as I was reading your piece, particularly as you describe it looking for its next victim. This is an excellent piece for Halloween. I really enjoyed reading it.

I think your notes say it all! "Evil only needs a second to distract you, and change someone's life for many years. There lies the true evil." Very creative and imaginative presentation with the mix of poetry and prose. Sending good wishes for the contest.

Wow, I sure don't want to be out in your Halloween fog~scary terrible things are happening there. This is a very good entry for the Halloween Poetry competition, very descriptive, creating a creepy atmosphere. I like the alternating poetry/prose stanzas and the colorful presentation. Well done! (One note~spelling in 3rd stanza~scantly=scantily)

Ho. Ly. Freak. In. HELL, Papa Mike!! This was terrifying!!! You did an exemplary job with wreaking Halloween havoc, and I, also, am changed forever by this piece. I'm going to imagine a green fog every time I see or hear something laced with evil...all because of you and that wicked-amazing imagine and writing prowess you possess! This was a tremendous write!! I can't imagine you NOT coming home with the gold for this offering! But good luck in the contest anyway. xoxox

Very original mode of writing that I have never seen before, you mixed poetry with alternate prose. A really unique poetic form. You have inspired me to give it a try.

What I found interesting and imaginative in this post is that you took the traditional Halloween spooky images of green fog and ghosts as symbols of evil, and then tied them to these scenes of real life evil, where people stray into sin and commit acts of violence against each other, driving children into homelessness, etc. I think it is important to look beyond the distractions at what is really problematic in society. estory

Mike, well said: Evil needs a second to distract you and change someone's life for many years.? Like the way you metaphorically represent Halloween to portray a reality message. I also like the poem intermingled with prose.
Thanks for sharing. Wishing you the best for the Halloween Poetry contest

Mike, You wrote a very true Halloween poem. I do not like anything at all about halloween. There is enough evil in this world period today. May God bless you and your family! Teri
