So, Bay Lynn seems to have had the blood lust awakened in her from recent events and she's now taking up the mantle of attacking abusers from her jailed granddaughter. What a powerful trigger that is for them.

I wonder if Dodie Rae will be pleased by this or a little regretful that she wasn't the one to get her revenge against Riley? Also, with her chief antagonist gone, can anything stop them now that they are clearly on the warpath together? You're keeping us glued to the story, Steve.

Thank you, Jim, for the incredible review. I don't think Dodie Rae will be happy about the Bay Lynn taking Riley out. I do believe it will have the police looking in another direction.
I would love to have more time to write this story and many others. One day, I suppose, lol.

I understand where you're coming from. I don't think I could have spent much time writing when I was your age and working. It was only after I retired that I began writing fiction with my first work, which was a golf novella called Lucky Eddie that I wrote in 2016 and posted on FanStory in 2023. In fact my first 5 novels were all golf novels, and only the last two have not been.

All of the golf novels are related, featuring many of the same characters, one of whom also appeared in What We See.

We will likely see a few of them in the sequel to Duel with the Devil when I get around to writing that. I'm taking a bit of a break before starting that one.

Oh wow, Steve! I've been holding my breath throughout this! You certainly know how to raise the bar on horror. There's the suspense before the attack, then the blood-thirsty assault, followed by May's efforts to save his life. As if our blood pressure isn't raised enough, you then add still more tension with the police car potentially pulling in Bay Lynn. I would doubt Riley's going to make it now...
Just one small edit: May(,) I need you to calm down...
Excellent horror of which Mr King would approve! Well done Debbie

Thank you for this excellent, helpful review, Debbie. I have enjoyed writing this novel and am only a third of the way through it, lol. I wish I had all the time I needed to work on it daily. Work takes too much of my time.

Well, that's one butthole out of the way. LOL. You'll have to excuse me, I've most always been for the Indians, and the bank robbers; so, I assuredly have to be for the werewolf. Thanks for sharing.

Thank goodness you posted before I had given away all of my sixes. I really lliked this chapter. I was amazed that Bae Lynn jumped in on the action. For a second, I thought that maybe Officer Riley was the victim of domestic abuse from his wife. Did I miss that or make it up in my own imagination. Now, if that is the case, Bae Lynn has made a terrible mistake. really good chapter. Gretchen

It does appear that Riley may be a victim of abuse, as May seems to be the dominant of the two. This opens the story up to multiple scenarios. Does Bay Lynn realize he may be an innocent victim? We'll have to see what happens, lol. I don't seem to find your last post for Detour. Did I miss it? Thank you, Gretchen, for the exceptional review, my friend.

A good part of being a werewolf is the strength and self healing.... it's so satisfying. Your book is moving along well. The plot and characters are well developed.

This was another intense chapter, Steve, and you really kept me gripped. I loved your description, particularly here, "Her molten eyes shone like most creatures of the night." This was so well done, and it really made me feel as though I was there as part of the action. Another excellent chapter.

Perhaps Bay Lynn has made a sad mistake, tacking Officer Riley like that may not be the answer to why she tackled him, it may be May who is the problem here, some men are bashed by their wives. Now we're getting into the nitty gritty, beautifully written dear friend Steve, blessings Roy

Thank you, Roy, for this incredible review, my friend. Yes, it appears May is the problem. Abuse is prevalent in both genders, as well as all races.

This post makes me wonder if Riley wasn't the abuser, but his wife was. That's an interesting twist. Also is Carey and Riley's wife having an affair. I have questions. I can't wait to read more.

Thank you, Barbara, for this excellent review, my friend. It appears May, might be the issue here, as her terms of endearment towards Riley are not normal. Abuse is not gender specific by any means. We'll see what the next chapter brings.

Well, that explains stuff, He was an abused husband. What a wonderful twist. That's why he could not process that a man could hurt a woman. Amazing. You are simply divine. Now Bay Lynn and Dodie need to leave. Dodie was locked up so they will release her. And, The menfolk have been suffciently chastened for a while. And with a abused husband attacked they will no longer thinks abused wives are involved. What a glorious big brain you have. :-)

This is by far, my favorite review for this story. Thank you for boosting my enthusiasm and giving me the desire to get up this early to continue writing. I loved this chapter, and had it set for the end of the book. Obviously I couldn't wait, lol. It opened up a plethora of ideas and I can't wait to share them.

She loves it and asked me how I think up this stuff. I told her it was like watching a movie inside my head and the characters tell me what to say. Her response was priceless. "You hear voices in your head?"
That cracked me up. I told her no, not like that.

Woohooo Finally! lol One cop down, many more to go. Very satisfying after waiting for this guy to bite it. It seems Bay Lynn is really feeling her oats with the resurgence of her beast. I hope it doesn't get them caught. Great chapter.
