Well written.
"You need a job. Follow your dreams." - Maybe contradictory????
Where who is headed? Hook up when they get where? I'm afraid 50 words isn't enough for this story.

For some, it might be contradictory, but for me, I did follow my dreams, and it was a great job. That's the way I hope it would be for many. Thanks for the kind comments and review.

I love that last line, Carol, very amusing. I used to talk in my sleep when I was younger, but never thought of doing that. A fun father and son conversation. Perhaps father should do what my mother said she did, and ask me questions.
Amusing 50 word flash fiction,
cheers,
valda

Thanks Valda! I think this young man was living in dreamland instead of the reality of the world. Hopefully he learns in time. Thanks for the wonderful review. I appreciate it very much.

LOL, I think father and son are talking about two different sorts of dreams. I love the way you've twisted it so the boy thinks he can talk in his sleep and find out where his dreams take him, whereas his dad means the job he might always have wanted. I love how you do these shorties, my friend. Love you lots. Sandra xx

Good morning, Sandra! What a wonderful way to start my day... hearing from you. You always lift me up! My grandson was in a bad accident the other day, totalled his car, but except for a few cuts and bruises, he is okay. He became real anger with the police, and everyone else involved.... He couldn't wrap his head around the fact that if he hadn't been driving so fast and if he had been paying attention, he wouldn't have rear-ended the other vehicle. Had to put the blame somewhere else. And that's the same as expecting life to come to them instead of actually working for it. Strange!

Ha! Beautifully funny with just a nudge of cuteness!

You are a great and enjoyable writer, my friend. I mean that.

Keep up the wonderful work!

Thank you for your kindness, Doug. I am thrilled that you are enjoying these little flashes. It's tough to come up with a whole story in 50 words. Appreciate your time and review.

LOL. Yes, I think there are a lot of sons who think like that these days. I guess might might have turned out in a similar way, if they weren't banished with a broom. Thanks for sharing.

I can't understand how the younger generation has adopted this attitude of entitlement. I was always taught if you want something, you work for it. Very little in life comes free.... at least anything worth having. Even relationships take work.

I couldn't agree with you more. But children today have been handed everything and appreciate nothing. Smiles back at ya! Ric

If the only dreams you have are those that occur during your sleep, they should turn to nightmares. Statistics show adult males are more likely to stay at home, or return home after college, while girls are quick to leave.

Girls always return and remain family oriented I think...they just don't want to do it under the same roof. My 23 yr old grandson (who is-was very smart) dropped out of college, delivered pizzas and sleeps all day. That never would have flown in my life.

I have known too many people with those kinds of dreams. They apparently forget to note the end if they get there. It does make for an interesting short to inflame those with who have that kind of offspring.

I believe I have one or two grandchildren who unfortunately believe life is going to be handed to them on a silver platter. Wonder if they will every wake up?

I had to read this several times, especially the last line: ""I talk in my sleep. I'll find out where they're headed and hook up when they get there." I assume the young man is going to live his life in the dream world?

Yes, you are right! For the moment anyhow, he believes that life will be handed to him on a silver platter. How sad.

Hi Carol. I like the ending on this poem. Very clever. My grandson graduated a year ago and I was afraid he wouldn't have goals. He seems to be doing okay now. Great job.

I have a couple grandsons who don't have their acts together at all. I don't know but it's not my place to tell them and even if I did, they wouldn't care. They don't know what respect is either.
