Well, now there's a novel thought that, although we as Christians know the tie between the manger and the cross, not many would have painted... leave it to our Sir Roy to put it out there in that talented poetic pen! ;) Thanx for sharing! Yvette

Thi is a lovely poem about the history of Christmas tree.I didt know that Christmas trees were worshiped .I is ironic that even God is puzzled by this tradition ...

The poem shares the history of Christmas tree with Biblical reference. It showed then how it was an object of worship. In my view, it does not seem to be worshiped today, rather decorative. Thanks for sharing this instructive piece, which calls for reflection. Well done, dear Roy. Warmest regards.

What an incredibly fantastic history of the Christmas Tree. I always wondered where it started. So, it was biblical.

You are such a talent, Sir Roy.

It is a fun poem that made me chuckle. Our traditions could perplex even the highest beings. However, the deeper meaning is obvious. I like several lines: "These folks would dance around that tree, just like the highland fling." Also: "It has no legs, it cannot walk, they treat it like a pet." Its so clever. gayla

I didn't know at all about the history around the Christmas tree. I love Christmas Including the tree and all the trimmings, here it brings all of the family together making memories. Which doesn't happen often because our lives are so busy. Thanks for the educational piece!
Best Wishes
Nicki

Very well constructed. Well done.
I'm not sure about Jeremiah referring to our Christmas tree since we do not worship it. Now the non-Christians (non-believers) among us who decorate for Christmas and call it payment for a ticket to Heaven, that's a different kettle of fish.
Best wishes.

An amazing poem that speaks of history and idols...leaning toward, I think, how we idolize THE TREE at Christmas time... I have Jewish friends that call it a "Hanukkah bush" so it will be acceptable in their home.

Thank you for making me SEE so much in this beautiful poem.

Blessings,
GA

An interesting poem about the beginnings of what we know as the Christmas tree and it's adornments. And it won't be long now and all those decorations from over the years will be coming out again. Nice one, Roy.
cheers,

" they cut down a tree from the forest; it is shaped with a chisel by the hands of a craftsman. they adorn it with silver and gold and fasten it with hammer and nails "

2,000 years they'll prize this thing, gaze here and they will see.
I'm just as puzzled then as now, they call it 'Christmas tree.'

They decorate this tree with things to me it isn't clear " I believe this is why the Jehovah's witnesses don't celebrate Christmas ? thanks a lot for all this " intellectual and spiritual food "
well done =D
All the best,
Sarah
