I had a teacher once called Miss Harper, she taught us Shorthand and she did not miss a thing. We were all terrified of her and God help us if we did not do our homework. Your poem reminded me of her and I enjoyed your inventive poem, love Dolly x x x

Thank you so much! Miss Eversharp was loosely based on a substitute teacher in my school district with a strict reputation. I never had a problem with her, but those who misbehaved dreaded having her as a sub.

Hi Gansach, this reminds me of my science
teacher...he spoke with the same tone...same
voice...even when angry...it was pure torture...
I think I would have rather felt the rather of
Miss Eversharp's evil eye...LOL...

I love your poem...and the story told...very well
written...picture perfect...love Linda xxoo

Lol. I guess that was me too! It was worse for them than a reprimand or indeed any words. They would just wither, and then I would say "Thank you ... and now we'll continue!" Very well constructed, and very clever poem. Best wishes for your entry.

This is very nice. I'm sure it will bring back memories when classes were controlled by such teachers, and a look was all it tool

Suggest looking over that next to last stanza.

What a delightful poem! You've captured the school experience with such humor. Miss Eversharp comes to life as someone I will remember! I love how you show her rules and the reactions of her students--especially Reed! Thank you for sharing this charming poem - it gave me a big smile!

She sounds like Sister Hatchet Face when I was in grammar school, except she never cooled and we never listened. A very enjoyable poem. It brought back some good - and some not so good - memories. It made me smile. Thanks for sharing it and good luck in the contest.

Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I kind of based her on a substitute teacher we had called Miss Revercomb. She had a reputation throughout the district as a tough teacher and everyone groaned when they found out she was their sub. However, she knew my dad (who taught elementary) and I actually liked her--she was always nice to me as I was to her.

An excellent entry for the No Restrictions Poetry writing prompt. I am pretty sure I had Miss Eversharp for a teacher! Really cute poem. Great flow to it. Would make a good children's book. Good descriptions that would be perfect for humorous artwork. Thanks for sharing.

This is a very well written poem about Miss Ever sharp's evil eye! You used very good descriptive words and very good imagery from the artwork you chose and also from your words. I must say I am thankful I never had a teacher like that. Best wishes in the contest. Teri
