I love the thought of the "tiny sliver of the moon" keeping watch over you as you made your way home. That is imagery I often embrace as well.

This is a very beautiful poem with the right words to describe the meaning of your poem. I love skies like that when the sun goes down. I live in the mountains and sunrise and sunset is amazing breathtaking. Great poem for the contest.

Loved your poem and what a marvel it is to see the magnificent sky "following you home." I especially liked:
"Beyond the vanishing pastel
Arose a tiny sliver of moon,
Like an eyelash lying neath a closed eye."

Your descriptions, using colour several times, were splendid, and it was so vivid we could "see" the sunset following you and the sliver of moon watching over you till you arrived safely home. There was a sense of peace and comfort. I loved the expression "like an eyelash 'neath a closed eye". Just perfect.

Thank you so much for this wonderful review. This is a favorite of mine from one of my books. I'm glad you felt the sense of peace and comfort that I had while writing it. Actually, this is exactly how I felt when Leon and I returned from one of our long trips years ago.
