This is a very interesting chapter with solid character interactions. I've noted a few things. That may or may not be different in Canada than the US.
notes:
"Hi Joe, you're back early" said Linda smiling
-"Hi Joe, you're back early," said Linda smiling
"Hi Joe, you're back early" said Linda smiling at her husband as he walked into the backyard of their modest home.
-suggest not having Linda's dialogue with her husband's actions, in the same line.
"Yea, work was slow." He replied
-"Yea, work was slow," he replied
I need to go pick it up." Linda implored.
- I need to go pick it up," Linda implored.
"Woman, you really should have gotten your drivers' license" Joe said
-"Woman, you really should have gotten your driver's license," Joe said
