Amen sister, preaching to the choir. I rarely give money. What I do is give food, blankets, clothes, things like that. I saw a person on the corner under the overpass. will work for food. I pulled in a parking lot, pawed through my groceries. Got peanut butter, bread, oranges, apples, a package of boiled eggs, some foil packages of tuna, a roll of paper towels, some packages silverware from take out left on the car, and a couple of bottles of water. I came back around, honked and he came over. after the fourth bag he was in tears. I felt good that day. Karen

This is a great entry for the Acrostic Poetry writing prompt competition. In today's world, it doesn't take much to end in dire straits~loss of a job, an expensive illness without insurance~it could happen to anyone and your poem demonstrates this possibility. It hurts no one to show kindness and compassion and may be just the bright spot of help needed. Your message is well said. Great job!

Very well done. Some powerful messages in this poem on how to be a compassionate person. The first line stands out the most to me. So very true. Just wonderful. Best of luck in the contest.

Jesus said that if we didn't do it for others, we did not do it to Him, we must help the poor, heal the sick, and, if possible, raise the dead, be kind and love neighbours, beautifully written, good luck, blessings Roy

Amen! Help when you can, and when you can't do it monetarily, give of your time or offer a smile. Sometimes, that can get a person through the toughest of times.

Compassion is one of the main things I write about. Our world has forgotten how to be kind. What a wonderfully written poem. Good luck in the contest! Have a great day, and God bless.
