Hmm, alcaholics don't like being told they are one, or like being told to do something about it. Marsha needs to find out if that woman Trenton is seeing is his secretary. I really feel for women who go through this. I'm off to read another chapter. :)) Sandra xx

Thank you, Sandra. I agree that it isn't something Trenton wanted to here are ever believes. He's going along because he doesn't want to lose a lucrative job, and he knows he would. Marsha will be determined to find out more.

It is unfortunate when you are relieved to find out your husband's employer asked to speak to you because of your husband's alcoholism, and not because of your husband's affair. The story is now taking an interesting, but unexpected turn. Marsha has to be concerned about cheating and her husband's drinking. I look forward to seeing how you continue the anatomy of this marriage. I am enjoying the story.

Thank you for the review. I guess his alcohol does reflect on her as much his wanting to be with another woman would. I'm glad you are enjoying the story.

I'm still following your anatomy of a marriage. I have lots of sympathy for the wife, even though I find her quite naive to have been clueless for so long. You're doing a good job of moving the story forward with hints to what will follow.

Thank you, Verna. It isn't a subject I like writing about and I'm telling in from my friend's perspective so I'm having to try to put myself in her shoes.

Wow... simply the thought of your husband being an alcoholic as a 'relief' from an affair situation is a mind-boggling thing here... amazing how 'love' can make the eye/heart view things some times! ;) Thanx for sharing, as always, Beth -- look forward to the next installment! ;) Yvette

Thanks for the review and comments. This is not my husband. I had a wonderful husband for 61 years. This is supposed to fiction but it is actually based on the marriage of a close friend.

I knew it was, Beth -- simply a generalized statement in the comments.... :-) ;-)

I loved the scene between Marsha and Bill, although I'm wondering if Bill is telling Marsha the whole truth about what is going on to keep Trenton off the hook. Another engaging read, Beth, I really enjoyed reading it.

How hard it must be for Marsha to confront the truth that Trenton lied about the late night drinking as part of his work requirements. Yet in the 1950s, that's exactly what many women believed that their husbands were doing. I guess it's not appropriate to share about Trenton's affair with the boss but it probably won't go well when she tells Trenton he has to go for treatment.

Thank you, Helen. I feeling my way along with this story since it isn't something that happened to me. They say write what you know and I know about this from hearing it from a friends perspective.

I sure like your fiction, and you write like someone writing about a couple she knew or knows. If we want to see people making silly mistakes in life, all we have to do is look around. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, Ric. You guessed right. I do know this person but since I wasn't there when it happened, I have to make it fiction to an extent.

I think his boss's advice is good. Leave him if he won't get treatment. Is he having an affair or does she assume that since he's coming home late? Have you considered doing a chapter from her husband's point of view?

She is pretty sure he was seeing someone, but she is hoping if he gets control of the drinking, he will stop cheating. She wants to avoid a divorce is she can.

So he's not having an affair? He has a problem with alcohol? I am not quite sure which is worse here Beth as beating an addiction to alcohol is a huge challenge, when an affair could end and the marriage moves on. I liked how you handled this sensitive story, a fine post Beth, love Dolly x x x

Thank for review, Dolly. He is having an affair, but she is hoping he'll break it off in rehab. She thinks maybe he wouldn't have been tempted if he wasn't drinking. She does want a divorce, but it may come to that.
