Hi Monica, It was a shock to me as I read your poem and found out you were not talking about a man, but about your biological mother. Are you adopted? Have you seen your real mother? My son who was adopted away from me has spurned me too. I think I'll write a betrayal poem based on your feelings! Good luck in the contest. Dove

Hi, Dove. No, I'm not adopted. Actually, I was raised by my bio parents. My mother is still alive. I was actually the only child she did raise and I'm the one here for her and I'm the one she treats the worst. Sorry to hear about your son.

Oh, that is so very sad. To be betrayed by your mom is terribly heartbreaking. You express this emotion so well, touching our hearts and evoking sympathy for your sorrows. Best of luck in the contest. Evi

My heart hurts when I read this. It sounds like my daughter in law could have written it. She never felt good enough. Her father died when she was 7 and her mother died shortly after her daughter Morgan. She has gone into a dark place from which there may be no return. Touched my heart. Esther

I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter in law. I had my dad until I was 17. My mother is 90 now, and I am the only child here trying to do anything to help her, yet she has always treated me this way.

This is very dramatic and powerful, Monica, not least because it takes up until halfway through the verse to learn that the victim's betrayer is actually her mother. Your rhyming couplets convey your story well, building nicely to your poignant conclusion. Thank you for sharing your excellent verse and good luck in the contest! Debbie. PS Please don't feel you need to review but just for your personal information I wrote a verse on Dolly you might like.

Thank you. I have been sick so I haven't been on here in a while, but I definitely want to go and review that.

Dear Monica, I hope you're better now. I'd noticed you weren't around.

Thank you. I'm getting there. I've been having roommate issues, mother issues, illness issues - you name it - lol. I appreciate your concern, my sweet friend.

This was a very creative take on the "betrayal" topic. All betrayals are bad, but some are worse than others. I don't think it could get much worse than this, and you did a great job of expressing that. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Thank you. The saddest part is that it is the truth.
