It is a haunting picture, and the words match. Very well done. Our past is always lurking in our minds and reflected in our eyes... And you magically turned the poem from the woman in the picture to the author.

A most imaginative post telling of the things we think we see, and the things we naturally see, one being seeing with the inner eye, that a lot of people feel uncomfortable with, but I think it's the most reliable, beautifully written, good luck, blessings Roy

Very well done! This is such a thoughtful and thought-provoking poem as you move from reflections about the woman with a sudden turn to a personal challenge. Best wishes for your entry.

What a hauntingly beautiful poem! I love how you describe her eyes as "pools of deep obsidian" and the way the ghosts of her past are depicted as "spectral figures mere sketches". I loved how you ended it. Great job!

This poem is a great reflection of the artwork. It is a really cool piece of artwork. You could look at it for a long time and not lose interest. There is a lot in it as is there in your poem. I particularly like the last three lines. It makes you think of your own life and past shadows and hidden memories.
I enjoyed reading this. Thanks for sharing.
Best wishes,
Amelie

A beautiful free verse for the contest here -- you've skillfully painted a image that one could close their eyes and find even without your pic provided -- thank you so much for sharing and best of luck in the contest!
