Being confined to a wheelchair I can relate. The rhyme scheme is right on the money. I do my exercises every day to hold onto what mobility I have. I hope your poem will enlighten people. Some people can be so ignorant about people that are different.

Yes, Jaded. You are so right about people. They can be very rude at times. Thanks for your review. I really appreciate that!

You're absolutely correct, a person remains whole irrespective of the disability, it's never been about the body, but rather what it contains, the bible describes it as a tent that contains the essence of our being, this body we surrender on its death, beautifully written dear Harry, blessings Roy

This is true: Disability is not a dirty word. I work with people with disabilities, and your words ring true and strong. The line 'It does not define you' resonates with me.

Right on, Harry! I don't know if this is autobiological or not but you rhyme this to the top. I love how you stick up for the disabled people of the world. I have been disabled for a long time and have been wheelchair-bound for going on 4 years. I believe in disability rights and always vote for those who represent the disabled in our country.
Thanks for sharing this rhyming poetry with all of us here on Fanstory.

A person who has a positive outlook is more able to make it through their difficulty. They have faith and won't give up. Sometimes if you think, I can't do it you won't do it. You have to brush aside slurs and laughs and continue to live.
If you think that you can't do it, look at the people in their wheelchairs going about daily to work and other places.
I like your picture, rhyme and repeated sentences.
Good luck with your poem.

This is an excellent poem highlighting the real struggle in society that can exist when one has a disability. The phrase 'Disability is not a dirty word' is such a strong statement throughout. We are all the same in God's eyes, always be kind
Well done
Best Wishes

you really nailed this poem.I often think of the adage there but for the grace of God goes me. I spent almost two years in and out of hospitals, wheel chairs and having to use crutches and commute on a bus using crutches. A number of times as I was struggling to cross a busy street people were honking at me and even cursing me for holding up traffic.

Hi Harry
This is and uplifting and encouraging poem reminding all that disability does not mean you can't do something. You just have to figure out a way to do what you want despite the so called "problem". The repetition is important and seems to be a push forward each time.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Have a terrific rest of your week.
