Unfortunately, that happened to our next-door neighbor. Peggy died due to brain cancer, within weeks after she was diagnosed. Chuck fell apart. After a few years, their daughter came and got him. The house was sold. You explained the situation perfectly. Thank you for sharing.

Very sad, but often to real a situation that happens after the death of a loved one. The weeping willow, dead grass all attest to the reality of grief. Your allusions are clear and the theme is kept throughout.

Each line here is a reflection of death or abandonment. My particular favourite image is the dew-covered weeping willow, suggesting tears being wept in nature. A sensitively crafted verse infused with emotion. Thanks for sharing, Gypsy. Debbie

It's probably everything that's gone to shambles as he's grieving his wife's death but you focused on the yard so that you could focus on the weeping willow, echoing his grief.

Yes. You're right. The front yard and the back yard can be a reflection of who is inside.
Thank you very much, big sister.

Many times when a man loses his wife it is very difficult for him to put his life back in order again. I enjoyed your poem very much and I also enjoyed your presentation. Patricia.
