"why does it happen with such regularity to me?" LOL, Tom! Just lucky, I guess.

The comment on checkout lines . . . yes, we have ALL been in that line despite our best efforts to survey and decide which one is best.

Tom, I swear I'm going to start calling you Andy Rooney - your writing sounds so much like the way he used to talk:-)

I look forward to your humorous slices of life. Keep 'em coming!

    Hello Pam,
thanks so much for the delightful review gal. I appreciate the support and encouragement you always give me. I think my eyebrows might be looking more Rooney-like. I swear, I could trim them every day and still have one of them poking me in the eye when I'm driving or trying to read. Why don't women get hairy eyebrows or ears? Don't get me wrong, I don't want to see that at all, I love how smooth women are, but on men, what's the purpose?
I suppose some mysteries in life will remain mysteries.
    Have a blessed day gal.

Oh, Tom, women grow hair in unwanted places, as well. Mustache, chin, neck ... It's just that the older men they're hanging out with have bad eyes and can't see it:-)

I really enjoyed this story. It was so funny. I can relate. I always seem to get in the wrong lane at the store and seem to always hit the wrong buttons on my phone or computer. Luckily, I have a granddaughter who is a whiz at technology. You have a great sense of humor. I think you deserve a 5.

    Hello Brenda,
thanks so much for the delightful review. I think it's a common issue for most of us. I think a lot of us can handle the bigger problems in life better than the little every day irritants that get under our skin. I sometimes wonder if those folks who are first in line at the checkout intentionally take their time unloading the cart or messing with their credit cards. What's even worse is when the cashier wants to carry on a conversation and stops checking out the person, becoming totally oblivious to the line that is forming. In a perfect world, all the slow, annoying people would be confined to one line so that those of us with things to do and places to go could whisk through and be on our way. One can only wish.
    Have a blessed day gal.

What I liked about this story was the personality you put into the voice of the narrator and the emotion that comes across through the language. There's just the right amount of emotion, frustration, self depreciating humor, and details about these little moments that we all experience to hook the reader from the get go and lead him on the parable of coping with extraneous circumstances. We've all had these moments, getting stuck at toll booths, in construction zones, on cashier lines that don't seem to move. And we've all inadvertently lost things like cell phones by misplacing them. These are the frustrating moments of life I guess we have to learn to overcome. I live in North Carolina, so who knows if this lady will show up with your phone in my neighborhood. estory

    Hello Estory,
thanks so much for the wonderful review and thoughtful comments. I suspect that by the time she gets around to unpacking the pods, the phone will be useless, which doesn't really bother me any. I replaced it the same day with a similar model. Living in today's modern world, I suppose we need to develop an extra degree of patience. I'm not a patient person by nature, and I often find myself chomping at the bit, but as you mentioned, I need to learn to overcome. I'm running out of time to learn that lesson though.
    Have a blessed day.

I might have figured you for my twin, brothers from different mothers. LOL. As I've always said, "if it can go wrong, you can bet your butt it will with me." But we are still here and kicking, so it isn't all bad.
Thanks for sharing.

    Hi Ric,
aside from our rugged good looks, it appears that we both suffer the same issues with Murphy's Law. Fortunately, I'm able to laugh about most of it, as the majority of things are more of a nuisance than a real problem. Still, its frustrating. Good to hear from you my friend.
    Have a blessed day.

An entertaining read here about one of life's many quirks that we all encounter somewhere along the way but here it is delivered with lots of good humor -

    Hello Zanya,
thanks so much for the great review. We have to maintain a sense of humor or we'll go nuts. Life has a lot of challenges and the older I get, the more there seem to be.
    Have a blessed day!

Oh Tom! I am sorry to admit that your story had me laughing because I could identify with all these anecdotes. I lost my phone last year in a new and huge children's playground. Inches of fresh mulch underfoot. Hundreds of people. Lost all my ID and credit cards which were in its wallet. Never to be seen or heard of again. Fortunately my son could transfer all my (thousands of) photos from that mysterious cloud onto my new (expensive) phone.
But you are right. A sense of humour is a must. I hope that six stars will bring you a smile, if not your jacket and phone!
Wendy

    Hello Wendy,
just hearing from you always makes me smile gal, sixes or not. I was fortunate that it was just a flip phone, or I would have had to unpack all the boxes and bags until I found it. As it was, I bought another one the same day. Thanks so much for the delightful review gal, and the six.
    Have a blessed day.

Life sometimes rests on the luck of the draw Tom and your post made me smile and I am glad you retain your sense of humour throughout. If we can laugh at life then we stay sane.

I try not to lost things but my glasses seem to have a mind of their own and I often turn my apartment upside down looking for them! As for my phone, well I have had to ring it a few times from my ipad to find it! Fortunately it rings and I follow the sound! I have found it in the most obscure places! I would be lost without it!

As for gambling, well I have never tried it and choosing black or red would be a difficult choice as I prefer to bet on a sure thing. I was entertained Tom, a funny post, love Dolly x x x

    Hello Dolly,
thanks so much for the delightful review gal. I don't gamble either, but it you want a sure thing, bet against whatever I choose. Ah yes, the glasses. Been there, done that. I'm a big believer in putting things back where they belong so you can find them again, but now and then I forget my discipline.
    Have a blessed evening gal.

I loved this, Tom. You have a great way of telling a story to elicit maximum sympathy for you. We've all experienced the things you mentioned, but you do seem to have more than your fair share of them.

Did you ever post a story about that plane crash? If so, I don't remember it. Let me know the title if you did.

    Hi Jim,
um, if I was getting maximum sympathy, wouldn't I be receiving mass numbers of checks in the mail? So far it hasn't happened, but if you would like to start a trend, I'd probably not object.
The story I wrote was on November 2, 2022. It's titled Some Days are Diamonds.
Thanks so much for the great review Jim.
    Have a blessed evening.

I think one way or another it might be something, God must be working on my patience, I always seem to catch amber lights going into stop, where there is five sequences to run, and they tend to be timed so that the next st of lights coincide, heh heh, on the day of my baptism I got greens all the way, interesting huh? Well done Tom, blessings Roy

thanks so much for the entertaining review. I understand what you mean about being tested. Unfortunately, I still seem to fail the tests. One of these days though....

Do you remember me? I finally gave in and made the choice to come back on FS. I decided against reprinting the book I was writing after it sold out. Your story had me laughing the whole way through. I won't pick up the phone if I hear one ringing since I'm in North Carolina. I remember your writing from the last time I was here. I have to relearn how to use this place again.

    Hello Robert,
of course I remember you. I'm so glad you're back on FS again. I've always enjoyed your writing. I'm a bit puzzled why you didn't have more books published though, unless it's more work than it's worth having to sell them or go to book signings or whatever. I'd be interested to hear the reason if you felt like sharing.
Jan and I were in North Carolina this spring. We went down to see the ark in Kentucky and up to Ohio, visited a friend in New York and took another friend down to the Outer Banks to some friends he had in Hatteras. We went at the perfect time, before it got too hot or buggy.
I look forward to seeing your writing again. Thanks for the fine review my friend.
    Blessings,
    Tom
