I love how your poem shares the frustration of dealing with dishonesty! I like when you wrote about "alternate facts" for what they are. The ending feels so real - it perfectly shares a sense of mental exhaustion. Great job!

Thanks. It can get exhausting listening to nonsense. Unfortunately many people are drawn into the lies.

I quite agree with your poem. "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet," as Shakespeare wrote in Romeo and Juliet. A lie is still as lie by any other name too, but much more destructive to the gullible.

Politicians and most in the Mainstream Media insult our intelligence because they think we don't know the difference between a truth and a lie. Propaganda removes a truth and replaces it with a lie. Hitler and Goebbels were masters of propaganda and brainwashed many. Look back at the damage a lie can do if not checked. 70 to 80 million dead in WWII. 6 Million Jews murdered by one means or another and in the cruelest ways imaginable.

The current administration in Washington, D. C. and possible coming one, are forming a campaign of mistrust because they lie. They contradict themselves daily and try to hide their endless list of failures, sins, and side hustles. We're in big trouble here yet the lies keep coming. They know no shame either, or own their own failures.

Thank you for sharing your honest poem. Wonderfully written and aptly illustrated too.

Thanks for the review. Politicians eh! I'm Canadian but am up to date on US politics as well. Both countries have their own political dilemas.
