Okay... yes I would keep reading hahaha The shift from what Johnny expects--Santa's traditional noises--to something clearly amiss adds a great touch of intrigue. The vivid description of Johnny rushing up the stairs and the build-up to him finding something shocking really sets the stage for an intense moment. It's a fantastic way to hook readers and make them eager to find out what happens next.
But I'm going to leave my first impression and instead guess they are sneaking presents down the stairs

A holiday story with a naughty twist! Johnny learns that not all that goes 'bump in the night' on Christmas Eve is related to Santa. With a solid hook in the beginning, the story adopts a rhyme scheme in the second half.
It definitely has a 'didn't see that coming' plot twist. Mom and Dad's dreamscape is Johnny's worst nightmare! Well done.
