As our memory fades with age we fail to remember those warm memories of the past and many will identify with your clever 5-7-5, good luck with the contest, love Dolly x

This poem could describe what it feels like to fall into pit of dementia. One would feel lost and overwhelmed by the increasing darkness. Losing our sense of self must be devastating.

This was intriguing and unsettling. That is a good thing, because it means you got a strong reaction from the reader. You got the syllable count right, as well. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

One of my biggest fears of growing old is the loss of memories--without them, I am nothing. I don't fear solitude or even mobility issues; they just don't take away the moments that keep me warm and cozy on a cold winter night.
Smiles, Carol

It's amazing, my wife recalls more of our lives, and also even the kids growing up. She remembers far more than I do, so you've written a very intuitive post, well done, good luck, blessings Roy

The Speaker seems to be describing what it is like to have dementia. He tries to remember things, but there is a "darkness" that keeps those memories at bay. You describe this sad state very well. Rod

Hi
This poem sounds like aging or maybe the beginnings of dementia or Alzheimer's disease.
Good luck in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Have a great day

Interesting thought in this short poem. Unfortunately, as we age, many of us start to experience the lack of recall. I like the presentation, as it reflects well your words. Best wishes in the contest. Carol

This 5-7-5, Where Did I Go?, has the proper formatting and seems to speak to the loss of memory of a life that may have seen billowed sails and mountain treks, yet all forgotten.
