Ciao mystery poet, you now have 3 votes.

A timely topic.

Global warming has caused devastating consequences to the Emperor penguins

In 2022 , the chicks of entire colonies died because the sea ice on which they breed broke up too early and the chicks drowned.

Polar bear instead depend on sea ice to reach their main source of food seals which live in open sea.

The situation is dire and will only get worse.

I really enjoyed your poem. But spelling error with "drifting". The way you describe ice breaking and drifting did a wonerful job of sharing the the feeling of loss and disconnection. For emt his shared a sense of heartache. I love how much emotion you've packed into just a few lines. Great job!

This haiku, Penguins Like to Swim, has the proper formatting and delivers a sad awakening that the species which enjoy the frozen North are quickly losing their home.

I like this Haiku. Reminds me a bit of the penguin who returned home after some 20 odd days-- got out during the hurricane from a sanctuary for these birds. The visual is stunning as the penguin watches pieces of [its] broken home. Best for the contest.

I'm always amazed when looking at the ways penguins survive and thrive in the coldest climates on earth. What a wonderfully written poem. Good luck in the contest! Have a great day, and God bless.
