That was so cute. You deserved to win. I like all the bionic parts. Can you imagine the crippling arthritis you would have if it were not for bionic parts? I was a surgery nurse for years, finally became a nurse practitioner and realize now surgery does not fix a lot of things. Esther

Hi Esther, yeah, I kinda figured that out. Neither did the opioids that the dr pushed on me years ago. LOL. Forty years of lupus and I am still alive tho, so I really was trying to make light of the whole thing because when I laugh, it doesn't hurt as bad. Haha. As you must all ready know.
Thanks Esther for the very kind comments for my body poem. I appreciate it very much. Love, Debi

Clever and very well penned Debi. I didn't know about your spine. I've got 4 metal plates and 16 screws in my jaw from TMJ (tempromandibular joint disorder). I grind my teeth now because of it.
Your rhyme and meter ate flawless and make for a perfect read. I love your last line as well.
Very enjoyable Debi. Take care.

Thanks Katie, yes, my lupus has caused so much damage in my body in the last forty years, so my doctors really do say I am the bionic woman. My shoulders have both been shot from surgeries that did not take well but two spine, two knees, hips and neck and now maybe a new eye and kidney coming up. But the truth is I am 69 and I have survived lung cancer and so much, and I am still here. So I am truly blessed.
And oh, that TMJ can be bad so I am sorry you dealt with that too.

Thanks for all the kind words for my poems and I appreciate you and honored by the six stars, dear friend. Love, Debi

It is so important to have a sense of humor as we age and our body parts give out, one by one. This is a super humorous poem, and your ending line is very cleave.

Well, you had fun with that. I am still not getting your writing in my box. I must hunt you down like a theif. Your poetic story was a tongue in cheek inventory. Kinda like saying without your bad health you wouldn't have any health ar all. My prayers and wishes go out to you. Karen

Hi Karen, there was some fiction in there too, but I hate to say not much. I am just thankful that it isn't any worse. I did write it mostly to have some fun with it. Thanks for the kind words, my friend. They mean a lot to me.

Congrats on the win! I thought I'd already reviewed this, but apparently not. It is lots of fun and the lighthearted touch and verbal jests makes it a winner. My favourite line:
My ortho doctor says he has a bone to pick with me.

Good stuff.

This is excellent Debi!
Your use of language to depict the different issues in different body parts with introduction of humour was so enjoyable to read!
I thought jeepers this poor soul is like humpty dumpty, fallen apart and glued back together! Until I spotted your fiction/nonfiction status.
Well done!!!

My, my, your body has certainly been tampered with, my mother was a towering giant of 4'10" but then she was always that height, but marginallyperhaps a little taller, this is a great quirky poem dear Debi, blessings Roy

This sentence: Yet, one thing that I've kept from him, he's never head me... Where did this come from? It doesn't rhyme when everything else does and I don't understand what you're telling us here.

There's a little sadness and regret, and a tinge of humor here, Debi. It's all part of your unique way of dealing with the many curve balls life - your body - have thrown at you.

Congratulations on the win for this contest, and keep on truckin'.

xoxo
Pam

Hahaha. Pam, you read that wrong. You read it as he never head me.... no wonder that doesn't make sense. It reads, yet, one thing that I kept from him, he's never heard me ..... rhymes with heart... please tell me you get the humor here. I am shy. Honestly!! And like I said, part fiction. I am not shaped like the letter O. Haha.

LOL, this was called body, and I have been dealing with mine fighting me since I was poisoned with the DES that my mom took at birth. I used this poem as a fun way to laugh about it rather than continue to cry.

Like you, I am dreading 70 this year, but I keep getting the message from mine that so much is wrong already, I don't know how much time God plans to give me. At least you have a fit and strong body and I am happy for you. Happier than you know. And my time here helps me so much.

This latest deal with my eyes has been so hard. Oh hon, every day at the eye doctor. Yesterday he told Glen that he loses sleep over me. Now they are saying they will most likely skip the stem cell and go right to the cornea transplant because another infection just broke out and the abrasions are so layered that it will be months to get those healed. But they don't want to do it until they get the abrasions healed. So he doesn't know how it won't be scarred. Yesterday, after being so brave thru this for over a month of daily appointments, I just sat down and cried.

Today I am fine and going forward. Love you, sis. You have been a shining star to me since we found each other. Please tell me we can find a way to celebrate again somehow, even if we just toast each other at a certain time with a glass of wine. Love ya so much!! Debi

No, I read it right. So, you're leaving out the word "fart"? That's what I didn't get. I didn't see the ellipsis the first time around.

    Okay, got it!
