What an interesting poem. I like poems that rhyme, and this one has some stanzas that have rhyme. I am intrigued by the topic as well -- a cat that shows up at an opportune time, and then leaves when it feels it's no longer needed. I had that happen to me as well. Very strange.

I saw one typo in the penultimate stanza:

"Every day into Alzehimer's fog"
I think you meant "Alzheimer's" instead of "Alzehimer's."

thanks for noticing the typo. Would love to hear more about your encounter with a Cosmic cat.

LOL! It was actually with a Destiny Dog, rather than a Cosmic Cat. Perhaps I should write a poem about him too!

The cosmic cat. Nicely done. Animals seem to know when we need them. I had to put down my dog three years ago. My walking buddy. I enjoyed our company and miss her dearly. Nice thoughts. Thanks for sharing them. Be well.

A beautiful cat and a special one that your mother definitely understood. Your cosmic cat was there when you most needed him and, when his job was done, he moved on to the next recipient of his special energy. Just a slight hiccup with Alz(he)imers. Well done, Jake, and good luck! Debbie

I do believe things happen for a reason, and in this case with the Cosmic Cat, your mother may have been right. You found peace by telling the cat your life story, and he offered his friendship in your hour of need. Well done.

We have three pets - a Chihuahua-Yorkshire mix, 12 year-old dog named Chotchkey, blacker than cast iron but now frosted in the face as she ages; a 13-year-old tabby cat named Smidgen; and a 14 year-old Calico named Lily Prancer. Our eyes meet quite regularly as we spend our days together, and there is something searching and wonderful about sharing one's gaze with another being so different and yet so capable of affection for the odd, large, talking creature who shares living quarters with them.
I don't see much advantage or point in lining like poetry this account of a fix-your-heart cat. It would, I think, be just as powerful as a bit of prose. At any rate, it is delightful to have other intelligent species with whom to share of consciousnesses.
