This is a well-written poem. I love the mental picture it paints. We all want to conquer the day even or maybe even especially when we are at our worst. Great work and happy writing!

This free verse, Pandemic PJs, captures that time of voluntary isolation when people develop lifestyles that could exist and be considered normal in those unusual circumstances.

While others moaned and growled about the lockdown, you treated your own stage to dance upon.... far more interesting and fun then watching tv. Bravo!
Smiles to the Diva!

This is a very enjoyable poem. I try to find some suggestion for improvement when I review a poem but I can't see how to improve on this one. It's original, the pacing is good, and it ends at just the right point.
Well done

An excellent entry for the Free Verse Poem contest. I wish I had discovered this attitude during that time! It would have made those days more tolerable. Good luck in the contest.

What a unique perspective of the lockdown! When all else fails, just dance like a diva and embrace those pajamas. I still wear them...now I shall learn to dance in them!

Hello Ginda!
Oh my goodness, I LOVE "Carmen."
This is a superior poem. I am stingy with my Six-Stars, but what pushed me over the edge were your allusions to Bizet and his masterwork.
I love the imagery of a confident woman seizing the day, in the grand tradition of carpe diem and "To The Virgins, To Make Much of Time." This is the first day of the rest of your life. Make your mark.
Your decisions concerning line-length and spacing do much to accentuate this idea of languid movement -- light steps, shedding pajamas, the insinuation of bold nakedness--all accompanied by the music of a master. From getting out of bed to becoming the Bravissima of the morning, the reader feels the sentiment very strongly.
Some random thoughts:
---"Bizet invites me/to mend my mental posture." --This is pure poetry; you borrowing "posture" (which connotes something physical) and using it for the narrator's state-of-mind is perfect. And the rest is spiced up with your alliterative "M's." This, to me, is the best line in the entire poem.
---"I am the diva/of this new day." --This is a very close second, for it becomes the theme of the entire work. The use of "diva" marries well with the operatic motif you have created throughout.
I am so happy to have found this gem. And did I say how much I love "Carmen?" I am not an opera fan. But I love "Carmen." A lot.

Patrick, thank you so much for your enthusiastic comments for my poem. Yes, listening to Carmen does transport us to a wonderful place, even in the midst of a pandemic. The power of music! I appreciate all your insightful comments.

Very creatively written witha beutiful transition from the doldrums of the epidemic to becoming a diva, a sensuous dancing queen. And the change in attitude is wonderfully positive. Best wishes for the contest.

It seems Covid poems will never go out of style, as a new strain has begun erupting everywhere. I like the way you described the dance moves, and the mental shift to becoming diva of the day. I like the occasional rhyme and the alliteration. Bravissima! Best wishes in the contest. Carol
