I like this! All very topical with the Olympics and now Paralympics. Your fine verse is skilfully crafted to include excellent rhyme and flow and a momentum that mimics the actual race itself as the narrator hurtles towards the finish line, always hoping for gold but proud of second best silver. Great job! Good luck! Debbie

Author,
I love your post! I watch the Olympics and try to sense what it feels like to run with lightening speed, or to dance the apparati as a graceful gymnast. ( I walk with a different kind of apparatus.
Your poem took me there. To a nice place.
There is nothing wrong with a Silver Medal!
Best wishes and good luck in the contest.

I seldom to almost never read poetry, but I'm glad I stumbled across yours. Sports and competitions are great ways to motivate ourselves to push and become better. Thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest!

Ah, the poem that fits many from this year in France. Sometimes doing your best get you only a win in your heart and head, but not on the field of battle. Well-crafted and without a doubt a solid entry.

I commend you as you put me on that track, racing with Speaker throughout the poem. It's easy to visualize each stage of the race. I am not a fan of AABB rhyming; nevertheless, I enjoyed this narrative poem. Rod
