Hi Kace, I would imagine a story like this
could have been true at one time or other...
so many different animals are that loyal to
their owners...
I love your story told my wonderful friend...
and glad his horse dragged him to safety...
very well written you...and the picture speaks for
itself....

I love these loop poems. I hadn't come across them until I joined this site, but I'll have to give it a try sometime. You've made good use of images in this poem, I could really picture the injured man and his faithful horse in the desert, and the contrast with his homeland, and the repetition of the first word carries the story along beautifully. I just hesitated over a couple of points. In the third line of the third verse did you mean accept? I read it as except then realised that wasn't what you'd written. And was the double space between the fourth and fifth verses intended, for example because you intend a longer pause here? I'm struggling with the formatting when I post something so just wasn't sure if it was intentional or not. But overall a very evocative poem

It's sad to think that a man's horse can show more loyalty and compassion for its owner than some other men. I realize this is fiction but I am sure that the story has played out in reality as well.

I know that horses are beautiful creatures, they were left behind at the end of the war, most of them anyway, beautiful, faithful beasts, who served their masters well. A lot of soldiers were most upset at there having to leave them, beautifully written Loop poem Kay, blessings Roy

Hello Roy, Yes, only one horse came home because the owner paid for it. The soldiers of the Light Horse were told to shoot them, many wouldn't so they let them go and the Arabs looked after them, they love horses. Thanks for reading my friend. Kay xx
