Having lived on a farm for years in Missouri, no matter how cold it got, our rooster never slept in. Dang that rooster. LOL This presentation is beautiful. I enjoyed reading.

Did you mean the "crow" as the black bird or the "crow" of the rooster? Maybe even the "cock sleeps in"? Or maybe the "alarm cock sleeps in"? Anyway, just some ideas.

I liked reading this. It also gave me hope that whoever lives down the street from us who now has a rooster will find a way to encourage the bird to sleep in, too. Or we can just wait for a 'bitter cold morning' like the one in the poem!
