Oh no! The key was there for the taking? That's unfortunate! And isn't it coincidental (not) that Beckett gets beaten within an inch of his life NOW--
He's got to pull through. We can't let him be saddled with the murder of his daughter.
Listen to me. "we" -- That's what you do, Carol. You DRAW US IN!
I think you have a few evil eddie characters in one line.
When I try to copy it for you the system won't let me review go through...
They are easy to delete thank goodness.
You're driving this story forward with a clear head and deft imagination!

Two more chapters and you get to rest for the night.... I can't believe yu read them all and some get mad at me because I post one a day. Matthew said those who love the story will read as many as I give them and those who read for the money don't really care..... You make me so happy when you climb on board and tell the train to go!

I'll pay YOU to read. I don't care or look if it's two cents or $1.00--
I'm serious.

Yes, ma'am, some mighty fine descriptive writing that puts us readers right in the moment. Now, I only wish I had a six to reward this outstanding writing with the reward it deserves. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much! I was just writing and finishing Chapter 18 and feeling tired, and then you came along and made me smile. A virtual six is welcomed, my friend. I've got to finish up Chapter 18, have a short in mind, and then off to another chapter. I think you might like Chapter 17. I hope so!
thank you as always.

I like everything you write. As I've said forever, you need to be sending out submissions every day. One of my favorite writers "James Lee Burke," sent out a submission and was turned down 130 times. Then, someone picked it up, and it won tons of awards. Now he has about 70 books. It only takes that one person to take notice. Smiles and hugs back at ya! Ric

This is a great chapter! So many emotions going on! The chapter is filled with great details at each step. It's too bad Jose found the key to the safe deposit box. That can't be good. Blessings. Carol

Yes, the key is Jose's hand is dangerous...and so many want it and what it will reveal. It's hard to know where it will end up. Thanks so much for the kind review and the stars...I am thrilled you are enjoying the story.

Hi Carol, another great chapter. I'm catching up as it were. I loved the scene about the JH etc taking off, but then again I flew for twenty years. So probably biased. Garth is growing on me. Now on to the next chapter. Hugs, Ulla xxx

Hurrah! i jogged a little memory for you while you read my story. That's awesome! I hope I got it right! Garth is a charmer and has a real good heart, once he gets through his pain over losing Allie. I'm glad you like him. You are so kind to me and the story. Thank you!

So Garth as ever is involved in seeking out the disturbance in the prison, but is decidedly unhappy because the assigned person I'd in the ICU at the local hospital. Later Jose finds himself at Naomi's place cuts himself, great episode Carol, blessings Roy

Your detailed descriptions are the key to making your stories, chapters , and characters intriguing. An example of just a few of the following descriptions allows me to easily envision Garth.
The Cowboy stopped, his mouth in grumbling gear
Garth's jaw tightened as he absorbed the news.
Garth's eyes narrowed, his displeasure evident.
Garth spun around, his eyes blazing with barely restrained anger.
Then you move on to Jose, and what he sees, and how he feels and responds. This is magnificent.

Thank you, Lorraine. I think when I write, I step into my characters shoes and imagine how they would look, feel and act. I want to feel the emotions and want the reader to do the same. I so appreciate your comments. I'm smiling again!!!

Garth must be the most unlovable hero imaginable. He cries out to be beaten up - it's amazing what he gets away with. And then he turns around and pulls out all the stops (your writing of the cut in his hand is very fine). Suddenly we don't know which way to turn. kay

Garth is the charming cowboy...He just hasn't been so charming at first because of the death of Allie. It's Jose who is the bad guy and got his hand cut with glass and is bleeding. Now that Eleanor has Garth in gear things will get better. And Angelo is in hot pursuit of Jose. thanks for the review and comments.

I had hoped Matthew or Garth would find that key first. I am so happy my cowboy is back!!!
Finally, Garth shrugged, "Considering you put your life on the line for that minute, it's yours." (shrugged. no sound, but I love Garth!!)
but the Warden quickly intervened. "I'll get one of the secretaries to make copies for you," he said, hoping to defuse the tension. (intervened, To me intervened would be saying a word)

Now, Barbara, you and I both know that would be too easy.... These men have to fight for their success. And Eleanor's getting her work time in too. Poor lady is hopping from place to place...LOL thanks for the review and the support. It's fixed.

So Garth is involved. I seems he I remember he had a wife die of cancer. At least I think I remember that. Jose is eager to find the papers because he he already suffering from the beating he got for not having them already. How will he know where to go to look for the safe deposit box?

Yes, in one of my first stories with Garth, his wife died from cancer. I am surprised you emembered...that was a very long time ago. As for Jose...if he gets a chance, the name of the bank is stamped on the key....

I guarantee you, Garth is the most lovable Cowboy you will ever meet, but he is human and having the lost the love of his life has been difficult. His smooth talking drawl and southern charm will get to you. LOL
