HI Nolan, I just lost a sister and a younger brother
to smoking...both tried may times to stop...but for
some reason unknown...they couldn't win the battle...
I never got into smoking...so I don't know the addiction
for myself...I miss them both very much...
if your poem only reaches one person enough to make
them stop smoking...it's a blessing...
I love your your my sweet friend...very well written...
and your picture...priceless...love Linda xxoo

Thank you. I used to be a heavy smoker. That I was able to quit before contracting a serious disease related to smoking is a major miracle for me. I am eternally grateful to God for his assistance in doing so.

This poem describes the passing of someone who seemed to be a very good friend at work. It is the kind of poem that reminds me that we know eternity exists because we have eternal friends, the ones we miss and think about most often.

That dear friend, is an astute observation. I daresay that not many of my reviewers seem to have picked up on that. I am obviously impressed. Thank you for your wise comments.

You are welcome. I actually served a mission to Puerto Rico back in the early '90s for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but lately most of the time my head is in the 19th Century for western comedy.

I lost my dad and uncle to lung cancer and can say that they were both from the generation that saved the world and felt a cigarette was more a reward than a coffin nail.

I am a sorry for your loss. My late dad was also in world war II. He did not see combat, but he served in funeral services. I never saw him smoke, so imagine my surprise to see a photo of him as a younger man with a lit cigarette in his hand.

A very important message in this poem. I extend my sympathies on the loss of your friend. This is so well written, and I hope it receives the exposure it deserves.

Thank you very much, as the saying goes, "From your mouth to God's ears."

Your poem hits hard. I lost a dear friend, once diagnosed with a lung disorder, his wife refused to give up smoking. Which in turn quickened his death. For years she mourned his death. Now they are both together again.

Thank you for your kind review comments. A smoker will either quit of his own volition or he will quit when he can no longer inhale.

This is a poignant tale of a lost friendship. It reminds me of a once-best friend and I in our younger days, both smokers, working and going out together to enjoy ourselves. We parted ways, both quit smoking and are still healthy, but our lives changed and we no longer see each other. I think of her often, though, since she is such a big part of some of my best memories. At least I know she's still around, but losing a close friend due to disease from smoking is sad and difficult. Your poem conveys those feelings of loss well. Wonderful presentation!

Nomi.
You have us a fantastic, yet sad story written in poetic fashion.
I've never smoked in my life and I am thankful for that choice.
Your poem is written from the heart as I can feel the love and respect you had in this friendship.
Thank you for writing and sharing.

I think your poem captures this sense of loss we feel when we lose someone close to us, someone we love. The lines where you talk about hearing her call your name, when you see her face in a glimpse, are quite poignant. I went through, and I guess I am still going through this kind of thing over the death of my father. There is a hole there in your life, and it's hard to heal. Those memories keep haunting and haunting you. very emotional read. estory
