This is a beautifully emotional Italian Sonnet, Jess ica. I love this artwork and the weeping willows and you've combined the emotions of grief and renewal beautifully. Well done,
cheers.

Lovely Italian sonnet. I am in awe with poems that have a complex rhyming patters. However, as far as I am concerned, I look at the content, the language and the way it flows for me.

Jessica, you have done a marvelous job.

And what escapes our sight has not yet left; and
For all that's ever buried merely sleeps,

BTW, this could easily be considered a philosophical poem. Wish I had a six.

Thanks for sharing.

I have to give you the laurel crown for this one. This is a rarely used form nowadays, but very beautiful, and I have to applaud you for just writing in it. And you did a beautiful job with it. I liked the flow, the natural tone to the voice, very conversational with a subtle rhythm to the meter, and the interlocking rhyme scheme was worked to full effect. There are elements of a more classic feel here, also elements of Seamus Heaney's more contemporary, modern feel to the language. The images were classic and outstanding; that willow, the classic symbol of mourning, sets the stage for a poem about contemplating loss and pain, and also moving on from it to hope in the cycles of life and a rebirth of the spirit. Hands down the best poem I have read here in a while. Those who put some effort in and use a knowledge of these forms get extra credit from me. estory

It means a lot to hear the balance held; thank you for recognizing the subtleties between the lines. Your feedback makes the effort well worth it.

Very cool sonnet form. I see what you did there with the exposed posterior in the second line. Couldn't resist, could you. I noticed it because the line was slightly awkward on first read, but the result was worth it. This is the sort of sonnet one has to look back at while reading, as one might be more inclined to do in early fall, with a sense of sorrow and nostalgia.

I REALLY like what you wrote in your final stanza. I'm currently writing a song that features some of these ideas. "What's never lost will not be found; what's never dry cannot be drowned". I always look forward to reading your work as you consistently challenge yourself. Great work.

That really means a lot to me, thank you.

That is so cool. I did a bit of songwriting back when I was singing more. Are you a musician? What genre?

Most enjoyable from the point of view; nothing ever is lost. Using the Willow as a way of telling her loss of leaves and yet, those that have fallen will enrich the earth to rebirth. Thanks for sharing. K xx

Cool! I have never seen a poem like this. I like the message and how you made it rhyme. I always liked the weeping williow trees. As a kid I used to swing across a small creek on them. Great work! Keep it up.

The weeping willow mourns for us and it's tears fall to the ground with it comes hope for another tomorrow and life begins anew. Beautifully written and appreciated.

A lovely Italian Sonnet! And I loved that picture that Valda chose for the Picture Club. You show us that grieving can hibernate but it " merely sleeps," until spring reawakens those memories.

It's truly a beautiful thing about nature. When something dies, it goes back to the earth and provides the nourishment for new life. This was a beautifully written poem with a melancholy twist. Gretchen

"The Fallen" Like the dead?
Good personification of the willow and autumn.
"For all that falls to earth won't fall in vain," Hear, hear!
"For all that's ever buried merely sleeps," Nice euphemism, but not always true.
"When spring returns, and life begins anew." Yay!
Nice poem of hope.
