It must be very hard when the person you love, married and shared your life (with it's up and downs) passes away.
It s said, that over time the pain gets easier to handle but I'm not sure.
Support from family, friends and prayers of course help.
I hope her husband didn't suffer.
She's lucky to have a caring sister like you.

I think his heart failed.

He had heart problems, but died from pneumonia.

I seems like excellent advice, there's one thing about God, He doesn't take the pain away, but He provides the hope of a better horizon, it's in the valley of despair that we learn to handle our weaknesses. Man you two look alike, well done, blessings Roy

You always put a lot of feeling in your poems, Darla. I'm sure that your sister was moved by this poem. I wish you good luck in the "No Rules" contest.

She was. No six stars? 😞
-
We need to work on stressed and unstressed syllables.
-
I thought they were fine. I have not felt well.
-
When you are feeling better, we will work on your meter if you would like to.
-
I am doing the best I can.
I don't want to work on my meter.
A lot of feeling goes into my poems like you said.
That is why I said no six stars?
-
To get six stars, everything must be really good.
-
Everything is really good! Meter should not matter that much when I put so much feeling into my poems. I am really trying to use good meter.
-
You might do better when you write free verse. You may be concentrating on meter too much, and it is getting in the way of some good work.
-
I have written excellent poems, did you read my rant?

Darla, This is a very nice and heart felt poem you have penned for your sister, who is missing her husband. You used very good loving and rhyming words. Best wishes in the contest. Teri

Hi, pookie I hope you are well
This looks like a good entry for the contest. Good luck with that!!
It sounds like your sister is still alive, and her husband has died. Similar to my situation. My husband died last year. All I can say is the way I cope is by doing little things that he used to do and by using the blankets that he used to love. It's not perfect, but it works most of the time.
For example, when my daughter would hand him the hairbrush and he'd do a couple of swipes and then say he's done, and then he'd smile, and now when she hands me my hairbrush, I do the same thing because it reminds both of us of him
You never get over grief no matter how much time goes by you never get over it. It keeps attacking you and attacking you and sometimes when you least expect it.
All you can do is learn to cope with it. It's never going to go away.
And when he first passed, everything was raw emotions were raw grief was raw
I went through everything when I moved to assisted-living and I found the cards that he wrote me and he always wrote very sweet things on the cards so I was glad I found those things Things like that are going to mean a lot to her
I enjoyed reading your poem
Good job. Thank you for sharing.

Your poem is heartfelt and offers comfort in a gentle way. It expresses empathy and support beautifully. The flow and rhythm are smooth, and the message of enduring love and hope is clear. The imagery of talking to Gary and finding solace in prayer is poignant. Overall, it's a touching tribute to your sister's grief and a reminder of the support surrounding her.
