Great artwork to go with your story. You have written it well with a good reference to Dan Brown. It's always good to look at something you have liked and learn from it, like Arnold did. I like how he becomes inspired and wrote a new book on a completely different topic. Good descriptive detail describing it. He was rewarded very well for his efforts.
Overall a good story. A couple of small things:
The Da Vince Code

This section is a little confusing: He then published and sold his first novel. In contrast, his book didn't sell at all. If his novel was published, and he sold it, why didn't it sell? I would think that the publisher wouldn't have bothered with his book if he or she didn't think it would sell.

He didn't give up, what he wrote was what people probably needed at the time. As they said in writing, know your audience.
Flash fiction is a good way to get feedback on your writing before you move on to something bigger.
