What a harrowing experience this must have been for both farmers. I enjoyed the author's notes, as I never knew this about these men. When the eye of Hurricane Beryl passed over us a few weeks ago, It was beautiful to see, sunshine, stillness and fallen trees. A few minutes later the back side of the storm hit.
God bless,
Steve

This tanka, Raging Against Death, has the proper formatting and borrows the power of the turbulent tornado to represent the intensity of life brought against us.

This is, a very well written Jisei CT poem, that has pulied off many the steps.
It is beautiful, based on the connection between life and death, with the use of exoressice metaphorical language. I read about the Texas survivor in Readers Digest many years ago.
I am hurrying as the storm last night HD asxaffected the internet.

Your poem makes me think of spiritual storms but yes, God keeps us safe even in physical storms. Did you read Beth Shelby's story about being lifted up into a tornado with her mom? If not, please check out her profile.
As always well said and presented!

Here it is. She's written about it in several different ways including a poem. But here's her most recent retelling:

The hyper link takes me to my poem. I looked her up by her name and she doesn't have any pots.... weird.

Really? I wonder why. Did you look up Beth Shelby?
reply by the author on 16-Aug-2024
Yes, I looked up Beth Shelby and it doesn't have any posts. Maybe she disabled the poem.

OH!!! Now I see what happened. A long time ago she was listed as Beth Shelby. Now she's BethShelby (no space)

Wow, what stories! How absolutely terrifying! You've captured this fear impressively in your image and skilfully penned verse. Love this post packed with impact and nature's forceful anger. Thanks for sharing. Debbie

Tornados are scary, we had one a few years back here on Cape Cod. These men who survived were so lucky. Excellent use of words to capture the feel of the twister and the peace in the eye of the storm.

Gypsy, This is very interesting and true. You used great imagery as always from the artwork you chose. When I was a small child, my mom and sister and I lived in KY. There was a tornado that was going to hit. My mom put me and my sister in the bed and told us to lay down and go to sleep. We were too small to know what was really going on. She prayed. Later on we found out that the whole half side of the duplex we were in was destroyed, but our part was fine! Only God! Thanks for sharing. love and blessings, Teri

We were very blessed! I am thankful I was small enough not to know about it until later on in my life!

I think probably when there is extreme atmospheric activity going on, the safest place to seek refuge in, is the eye of the storm, where one can rest and recuperate, a great post dear Gypsy, blessings Roy

This seems like a good candidate for the contest. I like the way you sought refuge in the eye of the storm. That's where it's ironically calm and peaceful. Good job and good luck. Have a blessed day
