His Prayer

This is a very heart-felt prayer, a lovely way to use your 75 words. It is hard not to be angry some of the time, and this child has lost his mother. His anger is understandable and hopefully his father realizes that.

I think the family is just facing the reality of the mom being gone and the little boy was too young to understand until his grandmother mentioned Heaven. That he was familiar with...Thanks so much.

This seventy-five-word flash fiction story, His Prayer, has the proper word count and finds a child dealing with a after-action moment of recognition that his anger has done more damage to his father's feelings of loss.

I don't think the little man understood about his mother's death and his father's grief until grandma finally told him she was in Heaven. Most children can relate to that. Thank you so much for your review and thoughts.

Hi
What a sad but faithful prayer. Shows the faith of a child. It also shows that the child and father need each other in this time of mourning. Anger makes you do bad things.
Good luck in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Have a great rest of the day and week.

Thank you so much, Joan. It is sad when the little ones don't really understand what is happening in our big old adult world, and we get lost in our own emotions, forgetting how much they need us too. At least he knew where to turn. Thanks so much for the awesome review and for your kindness. Enjoy your week and I hope the sunshine is shining down on you.

A tender, heartfelt prayer in a child's voice directed to the Heavenly Father. A sweet one for the contest I find refreshing. Just beautiful! Sending you my best today as always and my good wishes for the flash.

thank you so much, Sally. The little guy didn't understand why the adults said and acted the way they did. His only recourse, which was the right one, was to reach out to the Lord. Thanks so much for the review and your kindness. Have a great day!

The child in the picture, while cute as a button , Is not able to have thoughts as complex as those.
I was at a friends house four months after the funeral of her mother. Her four year old grandson walks in and asks when granny is going to be through visiting God so she can come home?
I think this scenario is far more likely. But, your thoughts were sweet and well defined. And my opinions are like assholes, everybody's got one.

Daddy yelled at me. i didn't do nothing. Grandma yelled at me. i didn't do nothing. Momma's looking at me they said. She knows. Momma said she would love me for ever and ever. Momma said she would always take care of me. Momma's gone. There is just this dumb old vase. They love this dumb old vase more than me. I am sorry I broke your dumb vase. Can you come back home now?

It's not the picture I wanted but every time I tried to download a better one it would not let me so I settled for this one. Thanks for reading and the review.

Very poignant and sad short story. Am I write to think he broke the vase because he was upset about his mother's death? Well done. Best wishes for your entry.

Yes, he didn't know how to show what he felt so he broke her base. It's sad because children like adults can't show their feelings in the right way at times. Thanks so much for the review and comments.

My heart broke that is so sad. All I want to go is wrap my arms around this child and tell them how loved they are and that everything will be okay. You have made me feel the heartache.

Oh my gosh, mystery writer, this is a real tear-jerker. Poor kiddo. Dad should have a more understanding heart, and Grandma, too. Sometimes we don't think about the repercussions of the things we say to kids.
Thanks for sharing, and best of luck in the contest,
Rhonda

Yes, Rhona, I agree. Little people do't see or hear things the same way an adult does and sometimes it can be devastating to how they react to life's troubles. Thanks for reading and for your kind remarks. Have a great day!

Precious and realistic prayer with heartfelt child-like trust. God tells us to come to him with our requests with the simple faith of a child. Grownups like me think too much. Loved it and hope you win the contest!

Me too, Esther! I think and rethink and then I am so confused I don't know which way is up. While a child is so innocent they believe the words they hear...even if they meant something else. Thanks for the awesome review and stars. You are the best! Have a great day!
